50,000 Sindhi families residing in Agra will contribute Rs 51 each for the construction of Bhavya Ram Mandir at Ayodhya. This announcement from the Sindhi families comes a time when Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) is gearing up for a massive fund collection drive at the national level. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad in its press statement earlier this month had said that it would start campaigning the Ayodhya fund by January 15. Also, it had said that the gratuitous amount towards building Ram Mandir would be collected from everybody, may it be students, Rickshaw drivers, Chaiwalas and other thelawals.
The general secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, Champat Rai said that the work on the foundation for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya would start by the end of January. But he also acknowledged that the study of the soil was still not complete even after seven months. “From the day the construction starts, the temple would be completed in 36-39 months,” he added.
“We had hoped construction would have started in June but the study has not been completed after seven months. The results are not matching. There is sand, crumbly sand, under the ground or some old debris lying deep”, said Rai at a press conference in Kanpur on this week. “Over four lakh workers of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad have been tasked with collecting the funds and reaching out to people in four lakh villages across the country. The target would be to have ‘man-to-man and door-to-door’ contact with 55-60 crore people during the fundraising. ” added Rai.
