Indore: Smt Nalini Chandekar, popularly known as “Guru Mauli Aai” passed away on July 20 at the age of 84. Five Sangh karyakartas and her close relatives collectively performed her last rites. Born on June 30, 1935, Aai taught music and sociology at Vaishnavi College. She also conducted music classes at her home. Her husband, the late Amrit Vaman Chandekar, was a reader in High Court.
Since Shri Chandekar was a Sangh swayamsevak, Sangh workers visited his home regularly. Chandekar couple did not have child, they loved the swayamsevaks as their own children. Later, they handed over the first floor of their house for Badrinath District Karyalaya. This is how their house became the residence for many full-timers of the Sangh. ‘Aai’ cared for all the workers with great affection. Now after her passing away, the whole house, as per her will, has been handed over to the Sangh in the presence of her relatives. The documents of the property were received by Indore Vibhag Sanghachalak Shri Shailendra Mahajan and Badrinath Zila Sanghachalak Shri Prem Soni. Senior Pracharak Shri Prakash Solapurkar, Shri Gopal Yevatikar, Prant Pracharak Shri Baliram, Sah Prant Karyavah Shri Vinit Nawathe and many other workers from Sangh, BJP and Rashtra Sevika Samiti were also present.
When Aai passed away, ‘gurudakshina’ functions were going on in Malwa Prant. She presented a unique example worth emulating before all the people by donating her property for the social cause. Her sacrifice will inspire countless Sangh workers for the nation’s cause.
