K Surendran Denied Bail: CPM Govt and Police Foist False Charges against BJP State General Secretary

K Surendran alleged that fake cases have been registered against him with the sole purpose of extending his remand

K Surendran, state BJP general secretary, did not get a bail capable of granting him release from the jail. The only bail he got today is in connection with toll plaza blockade case of 2012. He did not get bail for a case pertaining to a “non-incident” of Thulam season at Sannidhanam. He will move again on Monday.

His prayer for transfer to Thiruvananthapuram central jail will be looked into later on the basis of the jail superintendent’s report. He can speak to his family members in the jail superintendent’s presence back in jail.

This morning BJP leaders and workers observed Namajapa Yajnam in front of Kottarakkara Sub Jail where BJP leader K. Surendran is imprisoned. Shobha Surendran and P.K. Krishnadas led the Yajna. Several women participated.

BJP president Adv. P. S. Sreedharan Pillai visited Surendran this morning, November 24. He told the media that Pinarayi regime is resorting to a political vendetta against Surendran as he is the most dynamic leader in the younger generation. He has unearthed the illegal dealings of several CPM leaders and their family members; obviously, they hate him. But, the faithful and BJP stand by him through thick and thin. It is ridiculous that the GOK has raked up false and fake cases against Surendran for defeating his bail application. Such cases are funny. One is even a case registered against a man for committing suicide. Another one is against a drunkard in Thiruvananthapuram district. And, one is against a drunkard auto driver.

Widespread protests are taking place in the state against the illegal incarceration of the BJP leader.

K. Surendran alleged that fake cases have been registered against him with the sole purpose of extending his remand. Otherwise, he would have been released yesterday, November 22 when he got bail for the case he has been charged when he was arrested at Shabarimala last week. The new cases the GOK raised for extending his remand are all fake. Some cases do not exist at all. Some cases have been charged against someone else. Some cases have been closed a long time back, but, with some other names as accused. Surendran said, his party would fight this atrocity legally and politically. And, he sarcastically said, still he would not complain chest pain and take shelter in any hospital. He was taking a dig at CPM Kannur district P. Jayarajan who keeps developing chest pain and get admitted in modern hospitals now and then.

Surendran said, a conspiracy has been hatched in the CM’s office. CM is the kingpin of it. The idea is to prevent him from contesting the ensuing Manjeswaram by-election due to the death of the MLA P.B. Abdul Razak. In 2016 elections, Surendran had lost the election, with a slender margin of 89 votes, to the UDF’s Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) candidate P.B. Abdul Razak. CPM’s C.H. Kunjambu was pushed to the third position.

BJP president Adv. P.S. Sreedharan Pillai said that GOK takes political vendetta against K. Surendran. His party would fight it out politically and legally. Adv. P.S. Sreedharan Pillai said that he has given the reports to the central leaders including party president Amit Shah regarding the protocol violation of DSP Yathishchandra and his insubordination towards union minister Pon Radhakrishnan. There will be proper action in this regard.
