Relive the Ramayana Snippets

About the Village
Parnasala is a small village located at a distance of 32 kmsfrom the holy town Bhadrachalam in the state of Telangana. Parnasala is among the most important places mentioned in the epic Ramayana as it is believed that Lord Sri Rama chose to set up his abode along with his brother Lakshman and wife Sita during 14 years of exile.
As per local belief, it was at Parnasala that Mareecha was killed by Ram. It is also believed that it was here that Ravana abducted Sita in his Pushpaka Vimana. The
village has several places which bear testimony to various events mentioned in the Ramayana pertaining to the 14 year period of exile of Sri Ram. There are also hoof marks of the golden deer of the epic and wheel marks of the chariot in which Sita Devi was carried away by Ravana. Parnasala is the place that reflects the angst of Lord Rama after his wife was abducted by Ravana and he is known as the Soka Rama or ‘sad’ Rama here.
A tiny hut with kaleidoscopic painted sculptures of Sri Ram, Lakshman, Sita and Ravan can be seen in Parnasala. Ekadashi, Sri Ram Navami and Kartika Poornima are celebrated in this village with lot of fervor and devotion..
How to reach
