Nagpur: Rashtra Sevika Samiti Pramukh Sanchalika Shantakka Tai called for strengthening the institution of family and life values to build the character and personality of the future generations. She was addressing the annual Vijayadashami function of the Samiti at Reshimbagh Ground on October 3. Noted gynaecologist Dr Varsha Dhavale was the chief guest. Samiti’s Pramukh Karyavahika Sushri Seetha Annadanam, Vidarbh Prant Karyavahika Rohini Athawale and Nagpur Karyavahika Karuna Sathe also shared the dais. Former Pramukh Sanchalika Pramilatai Medhe and senior RSS Pracharak Dr Shankarrao Tatwavadi were conspicuous by their presence on the occasion. It was 81st foundation day of the Samiti, founded by Lakshmibai Kelkar in 1936.
Sushri Shantakka reviewed the Samiti’s work and stressed on frustrating the nefarious and anti-national designs of separatist, consumerist and materialism. She stressed on rapidly changing technology, sense of alienation, pursuit of material pleasure forgetting social responsibility and how a woman can change this all. “A society can be disciplined if every individual follows all the rules as per his responsibility,” she said.
Citing example of people throwing milk on roads during agitation, she said this was wrong and they could have fed thousands of children who did not get milk in their houses and see the satisfaction on their faces. Human being would die for want of food, but humanity would be wiped out in the absence of cultural and moral values and ethos. Pointing towards growing attacks on women in spite of spread of education and literacy, she expressed concern over the growing incidents of love jihad, especially in Kerala. She said no amount of legal provisions would suffice to contain these attacks on women; they can be controlled only by creating an
atmosphere of humanity.
She said in Kerala alone the number of incidents of love jihad crossed 450 between July and December last year and they were all from higher education institutions like IITs and IIMs. These girls were brainwashed to serve the terrorist organisations against our motherland. This should serve as an eye opener for the entire society. We must act now to stop this menace of love jihad, she said. She expressed strong opposition to giving shelter to Rohingya Muslims in India. She said these people could be a liability and threat to our national security and social stability as some of them allegedly have links with the terrorist organisations.
Giving credit to members of the Rashtriya Muslims Mahila Manch for normalising the situation in Kashmir, the Samiti’s Pramukh Sanchalika said these Muslim women are playing an important role in convincing the people of Kashmir about the futility of violence and terrorism. She stressed on inculcating a sense of duty first right from the family level to national level to make the country great.
Dr Varsha Dhavale called upon efforts at the family level to inculcate moral values and respect for girls. She also called on women to look after their health regularly as health is their only wealth. Earlier, a troupe of 81 Sevikas presented a spectacular performance of band, physical exercises and yoga. —Virag Pachpore
The 92nd Foundation Day of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was observed across the country on the Vijayadashami Day. The main function was held in Nagpur on September 30, while the functions in other parts were held on different dates. The functions included pathsanchalans
and shastrapujan by swayamsevaks from Kishtwar in J&K to Andamans & Nicobar Islands and from Arunachal Pradesh to Kutch in Gujarat.
Mumbai: Sagar Reddy, a 28 year old ‘unmarried father’ for orphans, was honoured with the 8th Keshav Shrishti Puraskar on October 1. Former RSS Akhil Bharatiya Sewa Pramukh Shri Suhasrao Hiremath and CEO of Bharat Vikas Group Shri Hanumanth Rao Gaekwad felicitated him with a memento and Rs 1 lakh prize money.
Sagar became orphan at the age of one when his parents were brutally killed by their own relatives following their inter caste marriage. At the age of 18, an orphanage home normally asks its inmates to leave the place. It happened with Sagar also. Without proper documentation, food and place to stay, he spent over a year in temples, foot paths and railway platforms doing odd jobs. A person spotted talent in Sagar and sponsored his education. After finishing degree and getting a job, he was planning to settle in his life. But when he visited the orphanage home where he grew up, he came to know that many of his friends fell into bad company and his Rakhi sister was forced into prostitution. He realised the issues faced by young adolescents orphans and decided to address them by forming “Ekta Niradhar Sangh”. Sagar and his organisation take rooms on rent and convert them into rehabilitation centres for young orphaned boys and girls. He has so far helped over 700 orphans in getting employment and rehabilitated over 1,125. He has arranged more than 60 marriages of orphaned girls by doing ‘Kanyadan’ himself. Around 600 orphans are still under his shelter. His social support activity is spread over Maharashtra, Karnataka and Telangana.
New Delhi: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) welcomed the decision taken by the Government of India regarding Rohingya Muslims who have illegally entered India. In a statement, VHP joint general secretary Dr Surendra Jain said the Rohingya Muslims have been caught indulging in terrorist
activities and they have become a threat to law and order. Despite this, the kind of support the secular mafia has been extending them is a cause for concern. More than 100 Hindus have been killed by Rohingyas and some 45 bodies of Hindus of Myanmar have been recovered till now. Hundreds of Hindus are missing. The Rohingya Muslims have been on the rampage even in the refugee camps of Bangladesh. They have been forcibly converting Hindus into Islam.
Meanwhile, the Hindu American Foundation (HAF) also condemned the killing of Hindus in Myanmar by Rohingya Muslims. “We urge an open and transparent investigation into these killings,” said Samir Kalra, HAF Senior Director. The HAF urged the Government of Myanmar to uphold the rights of all the civilians.
Guwahati: A Keertan Darbar dedicated to the celebration of 350th Prakash Parva of Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Maharaj was organised at the Assam Raj Bhavan. Addressing the gathering on the occasion Assam and Meghalaya Governor Shri Banwarilal Purohit said Guru Gobind Singhji raised self-
confidence of the society. He also created unparallel warriors. He assured full contribution from him to spread the message of the 10th Guru to the universities and colleges. He stressed that young generation should be educated about his teachings. Noted industrialist Sardar Amrik Singh from Jorhat, secretary general (organisation) of the Sikh Sangat Shri Avinash Jaiswal, general secretary Dr Avatar Singh Shastry, Director General of Assam Police Shri Mukesh Sahai were also present on the occasion.
