Hyderabad: Taking a bold initiative aimed at transforming the mindset of people towards the girl child the Hyderabad unit of Sewa Bharati organised a “Run for Girl Child” on January 22. The Run was flagged off by the MCHRDI director Shri Vinod Agrawal, IAS; president of CII Smt. Vanita Datla; Executive vice president of CapGemini Shri Dayakar Reddy and several other distinguished personalities from Gachibowli Stadium.
More than 5,000 IT employees along with families from gated communities of Cyberabad area participated in the Run. More than 1,000 girls who are enrolled in existing Kishori Vikas Centres, led by coordinator Jayaprada and Dr Jaya Sri, took part in the Run. Corporates like CapGemini (with highest number of participants), GenPact (highest number of volunteers) and several other IT companies
supported the cause both monetarily and by encouraging their employees to participate in the Run.
Seva Bharati’s Kishori Vikas Project has been designed to educate and empower adolescent girls in slums and villages. Seva Bharati currently runs more than 100 Kishori Vikas Centres benefitting more than 2,500 girls. Each centre provides education, vocational, health and other developmental activities to 25 girls of a slum area for two hours from Monday to Saturday.
HSSF in Gurugram from February 2
Gurugram: As part of the Hindu Spiritual and Service Fair (HSSF) beginning from February 2, a seminar was organised to discuss the status of women in the society. Addressing the gathering Additional Advocate General of Delhi Smt Monika Arora said the women in our culture were always empowered and challenged even the Shankaracharyas in discussion. But Mughal era saw them being confined to houses only. Today when an ideological conflict is taking place in the country, the women should come forward and create a New India. Professors and vice chancellors of many universities also joined the discussion.
Monika Arora further said that the time is fast changing and women now get more opportunities. This has helped them to excel in every field. She said the women know their responsibility and that is why they do not hesitate to sacrifice their lives for the nation, if need arises. Vice Chancellor of Devilal University Prof Vijay Kayat said Indian women have never been weak. Prof Suman Dalal of ITTR, Vice Chancellor of CRS University Major General Ranjit Singh and Dr Radha R Sharma of Hero Moto Corp also spoke on the occasion.
Swayamsevaks to visit every village of Haryana for social harmony
Faridabad: The workers belonging to RSS and its associated organisations will visit every village of Haryana to strengthen the feeling of social harmony and also to promote village development activities. Decision to this effect was taken at the Samanvya Baithak of Sangh and its associated organisations held recently. Addressing the workers RSS Sah Uttar Kshetra Pracharak Shri Banvir said the swayamsevaks are working to create a harmonious society. “The Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat has also recently called the workers to work for ensuring one temple, one
crematorium and one water resource. We are working in that direction only,” he said stressing that the Sangh workers will also reach to the nomadic people who do not have permanent residence.
Sah Prant Sanghachalak Shri Pawan Jindal pointed out that Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh will create its units upto the block level and Bharatiya Kisan Sangh would ensure that the farmers get fair price of their farm products. The BKS will also educate the farmers about new technology in the farming sector. Arogya Bharati will train the housewives about ideal kitchen, while Kreeda Bharati will open Kabaddi, Hockey and Judo Karate training centres. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad will start contact drive to ensure smooth entry of all people into the
temples. Sikh Sangat will also organise functions in the State to observe 350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal also joined the meeting.
Anganwadi workers seek enhancement in honorarium
New Delhi: A high level delegation of Akhil Bharatiya Anganwadi Karmachari Mahasangh (ABAKM) urged the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to revise the honorarium of about 26 lakh Anganvadi workers in the country
bringing it at least at par with the
minimum wage decided by the Central Government employees. The delegation called on the Minister on January 23. It comprised of BMS general secretary Shri Vrijesh Upadhyaya, BMS incharge of the ABAKM Shri Jayantilal, ABAKM president Ritakka, general secretary Anjali Patel, treasurer Sumita Mohpatra, organising secretary Veda Agate and
central office secretary Premwati. After hearing the delegation Shri Jaitley assured them that he would look into their demands sympathetically.
The memorandum said more than 26 lakh Anganwadi workers and helpers having reach almost in all the villages are deprived of even the minimum wages and the status of workmen as defined in the law. “Our basic job is to ensure
supplementary nutrition, pre-primary education, nutrition and health education, immunisation, health check-up and
referral services to the people. In addition to this we also spread awareness amongst women on health related issues and provide antenatal care for pregnant women and ensuring post-natal care to nursing mothers. But it is a matter of great concern that a worker owing
various responsibilities of government is deprived of basic requirements of a workman i.e. minimum wages, social security’s etc,” the memorandum added.
RSS Prathmik Shiksha Varg in Kishtwar
Kishtwar: A seven-day Prathmik Shiksha Varg organised by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh concluded on January 22. The valedictory function was organised at BVM. Shri Sanjay Sharma briefed the audience of the activities
conducted during the Varga. He said it was a basic training for self-discipline, character building as well as nationalism. Prant Karyavah Shri Purshottam Diduchi congratulated the participants to get training in the shivering cold. He said the training would lead them to play a meaningful role in the society. He said nothing is hidden about RSS and everyone is welcome to join it. Later, Zilla Karyavah Shri Roshanlal Sharma thanked all the participants. Other dignitaries who were present on the occasion were Shri Ramsewak Sharma, Shri Rajinder Sen, Shri Balkrishan Parihar, Dr Gurdev Singh and others.
Unite to Save the Traditional Sport Jallikattu
Mumbai: ABVP supported the democratic protests by youth of Tamil Nadu in support of the traditional sport Jallikattu and condemned the attempts by some organisations to attack the traditional and cultural practices of the country. “It is shocking how some organisations have constantly tried to accuse Jallikattu by saying that it is a cruelty on bulls while the fact remains that no animal is hurt in this sport, which is a part of the cultural identity of Tamil Nadu,” the ABVP said in a statement released on January 21.
ABVP requested the Supreme Court to respect the sentiments of people and lift the ban immediately. The ABVP however welcomed the decision of Central and Tamil Nadu Government to bring in an ordinance to clear the way for conducting Jallikattu respecting sentiments of the youth of Tamil Nadu. At the same time it is alarming that some anti-social elements are trying to vitiate the atmosphere of the democratic protests led by the youth of Tamil Nadu and trying to fuel anti-national sentiments in the garb of protests. In one such instance some anti-social elements attacked ABVP workers when they carried the National Flag in the agitation at Coimbatore on January 18. ABVP calls upon the youth of Tamil Nadu to expose and corner such anti-social elements,” the statement said.
Invincible Republic
RSS swayamsevaks celebrated Republic Day on January 26 across the country. Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat hoisted the National Flag in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, while Sarkaryavah Shri Bhayyaji Joshi hoisted the tricolor in Pune, Maharashtra. Over 3,000 swayamsevaks joined the spectacular pathsanchalan in Sullia Taluk of Mangaluru, Karnataka. In Ahmedabad, 373 swayamsevaks conducted ‘Saptak Ghosh Sanchalan’. The
pathsanchlan in Delhi was marvellous, as the swayamsevaks while braving the rains and cold marched in Connaught Place area, the heart of the national capital. RSS Akhil Bharatiya Sah Prachar Pramukh Shri J Nandakumar addressed the swayamsevaks during the rains.
Tribute to Netaji on 120th Birth Anniversary
The RSS swayamsevaks celebrated the 120th birth anniversary of legendary freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on January 23 by organising impressive pathsanchalans across the country. More significantly, special route marches were conducted in different states of North-East including at Majoli, Dibrugarh, Silcher, Nalbari, Lakhimpur and Sibsagar in Assam and Dimapur in Nagaland. Paying tribute at Mandalia Ground in Sambalpur, Odisha, RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat said, “Bharat attained freedom because of the sacrifices made by innumerable freedom fighters, but we have not been able to realise their dreams of a Swatantra-Swabhimani Bharat. The RSS is working to achieve those dreams.” He said there is a need to understand and execute the motive of freedom fighters behind the Independence Struggle.
