From the day Suresh Prabhu has become Railway Minister, we are witnessing a distinct patter of transformation. Though yes, critics can suggest that they don’t agree and railway is on the same lines. But then perhaps they have not analysed the work done in the past two years.  The declarations about the passengers’ amenities, cleaning technology and transparency can be seen today grounded in work.

Key  Decisions

  • Capital cities in North-East  to be connected by Broad Guage by 2020
  • Better Hygiene Standards

Schemes

  • Innovative Finance schemes to reduce dependence on Freights
  • Ran the fastest train ‘Gatiman’ express at 160 Kmph

Impact

  • n  Significantly improved catering, Launched E-Catering to ensure more choice

Railway is witnessing a transformation with experiments in Wi-Fi on stations, e-catering for passengers, full proof security arrangements, bio-toilets, CCTVs on Tatkal counters, cleaning facilities through SMS, paperless work and social media.  Usually people are heard saying that Bharatiya Railways are not going to improve at all, but now their tones have subsidised. Government has also come with full proof regulations for acquiring process and recruitment as well. The special change which one is witnessing is the increase in the speed of the trains. Modern technology is being used optimally. Services have also been increased. Railway Minister has taken the issues of cleanliness and food in the running trains quite seriously. Many high speed trains have become operational too. Additionally staffs have to be trained in issuing alerts to prevent the accidents. The maintenance of tracks and rolling tracks should be made more frequent. There were echoes of corruption in railways in the last government, but they are completely absent in the present regime by now
