Narada Jayanti is celebrated on the ‘Vaishakha Krishna Dvitiya’. Narad Muni or the ‘God of Communication’ is considered as one of the main seven, ‘Saptrishis’ who travelled throughout the entire world to spread information about the various Gods. This day is also popularly called, ‘Patrakar Diwas’, the ‘Journalist Day’ and is celebrated by publication and media houses owing to Sage Narada’s nature of communicating information which is their main business.
Media is undergoing another transition. New techniques of transmitting information are emerging, social media platforms have transformed the culture of newsrooms, new revenue models are tried with and challenge of engaging readers and viewers has become more competitive. Like any other industry the monopolies and distortions have become common in media houses.
