Intro: The RSS convention‘Samartha Bharata’ has been organised to provide a platform to unite all such people, who can join hands and take a pledge to save the country from the clutches of corrupt people and practices.
Men and women flocked to registration counters to enrol themselves for participating in a two day convention Samartha Bharata (A convention of nationalist volunteers) organised by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at Gayatri Vihar and Tripuravasini Halls located in sprawling palace grounds on August 23 in Bengaluru. The two day event aims to inspire the young generation to spend their leisure time in nation building activities started with a positive note.
More than 7,500 participants across the State took part enthusiastically in the event named, ‘New Dimension in Volunteering’. Though most of them had registered online, there was a serpentine queue in all the spot registration counters.
The event started with an inauguration of an exhibition hall in the morning. The main event started at with the lighting of traditional lamp at the Swami Vivekananda Mantapa (Boudhik Mantap).
At the beginning of the program, RSS paid floral tributes to two legends of Karnataka, Padmabhushan Yogacharya BKS Iyengar who died recently and Jnanapith awardee poet UR Ananthamurthy who died on August 22, by observing silence for a minute.

“If you have a team, we have a theme, if you have a theme, we have a team. So please engage yourself with us and as a united team we can reclaim the lost glory of Bharat.”
– Shri Bhaghaiah ( Akhil Bharateeya Bouddhik Paramukh of RSS)

Speaking on the occasion, Akhil Bharateeya Bouddhik Pramukh of RSS, Shri Bhaghaiah described the conclave as ‘Indrasabha’ as the jam packed hall was charged with divine atmosphere with participants wearing white dress, eager to dedicate them for the cause of serving motherland.
Shri Bhaghaiah, in his inspiring speech (Boudhik) asked the participants to join their hands with RSS for serving the nation. “Bharat is a rich country in all aspects, be it resources, knowledge, wealth, opportunities and culture. Good people with a big heart are rare and scattered. Through, this convention we are providing a platform to unite all such people, who can join hands and take a pledge to save our country from the clutches of corrupt people and practices,” Shri Bhagaiah emphasised.
He gave the examples of patriotism displayed by people of Japan, Germany and Israel who have built their country brick by brick and requested the youth of Bharat to emulate them. Interestingly the conclave has 11 sub-halls to accommodate participants to choose the hall of their choice in respect to the interest they possess. For example, those participants with an interest in serving the nation through value added education can opt for Nivedita Mantapa. Similarly, those who wish to serve in the area of Seva Basti (slums) should assemble at hall Swami Vivekananda Mantapa. Followed by Hedgewar Mantap, Golwalkar Mantapa, Ambedkar Mantapa, Jhansirani Mantapa, Mythreyi Mantapa, Shabari Mantapa, Kalpana Chawla Mantapa to serve different interests.

– Guruprasad from Bengaluru
