The case of gang-rape and conversion of a Hindu girl from a Madarsa in Meerut in Western Uttar Pradesh reveals the pitiable condition; the women of the state are subjected to in the rule of Akhilesh Yadav government.
With the shameless appeasement of Muslims, the things have come to such a pass that even places like madarsa, which impart religious education, are now being used to committ heinous crime against a Hindu woman. The Samajwadi Party resorts to shedding crocodile tears but has till date not taken concrete steps to contain crimes against the fair sex in the state.
The woman, a BA student, alleged that she was forcibly converted to Islam in a madarsa in Hapur. In addition, she also told police she was held captive in another madarsa in Muzaffarnagar for three days, where she was sexually assaulted and raped.
The crime related to this young Hindu woman of Saravan village under Kharkhauda Thana of Meerut district has on one hand rocked the entire country while on the other has led to terrific social tension in the area. It seems neither the Muslim learnt lessons from last year’s violence in the adjoining Muzaffarnagar nor the administration has shown any deftness in handling the situation in the right perspective, this time again.
The only crime that the young woman committed was that she taught Hindi and English at a madarsa for eight months. Since she left the job, she was apparently under the scanner of one Hafiz of the same madarsa. The director of the madarsa, Ameeruddin of Bihar is absconding since the crime took place. The girl was abducted in connivance by the Pradhan of the village Nabab Khan, another accused Sanaulla and his wife Samarjahan and daughter Nisat and the Hafiz of the madarsa. She was confined at the Dotai Madarsa of Hapur where she was converted to Islam and christened as Bushra Jannat.
The hapless girl remained in the grip of her abductors who raped her repeatedly after converting her. She was admitted to a private hospital in Muzaffarnagar where an operation was performed. The ill-fated girl, however, succeeded in freeing herself from the kidnappers on August 3 and contacted her family members informing them her whereabouts and accordingly they rescued her and took her to the Kharkhauda police station and lodged a complaint that she was abducted, gang-raped and converted forcefully.
However, it is alleged that the police failed to show any sensitivity and register a case. They did so only when an angry mob reached the police station after which senior police officers SP (Rural) Captain MS Begh, and SP Hapur, Sudhir Kumar reached victim’s place. The report was filed after BJP MP from Meerut Rajendra Agrawal, MLA Ravindara Bhadana, BJP leaders Y P Singh, Vineet Agrawal and Deepak Tyagi took initiative. The accused Nabab Khan, Maulana Sanaulla and his wife Samarjahan, his daughter Nisat, and Hafiz were booked for kidnapping, gang-rape, conversion and making forged documents.
Police have sent all the accused except Sannaulla to jail.
The girl was gang raped on June 29 in Muzaffarnagar where another Hindu girl was kept. It is in common knowledge that Hindu girls from Western UP’s Meerut, Hapur, Muzaffarnagar, Deoband, Saharanpur areas are abducted and converted to Islam. IG Alok Sharma conceded to this fact.
When the Hindu organisations raise such issues, the Muslims unite and fight with them and the administration always remains inert. It is this that leads to communal riots in the state. Union Minister Kalraj Mishra, former CM Mayawati, SP Supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, SP Spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary, BJP MP Vinay Katiyar, and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi expressed serious concern over the incident and demanded stern action against the culprits. Meanwhile, Mohatmim of Darul Uloom Deoband Mufti Abdul Qasim Nomani said conversion into Islam for personal gain is contrary to Shariat and it cannot be justified at all. He said it is an offence.
