MA Baby Puts End To His Truancy

$img_titleAt last the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Polit Bureau (PB) member, MA Baby-MLA from Kundara constituency puts an end to his truancy and has started attending the Assembly proceedings. He abstained from the Assembly during the first five days of the Monsoon Session of Kerala Assembly. He was protesting against the party leadership in view of the failure of CPM Kerala State Committee and State Secretariat. He had submitted his resignation, from the State Assembly, before the State committee and PB in the light of his defeat in Kollam LS constituency in general and his tally of less vote than his ‘winner rival’ NK Premachandran of Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) in Kundara Assembly constituency in particular. Central leadership and State leadership have been compelling Baby to attend the Assembly session; but Baby preferred to stick to his gun.

Kerala

At last, as media reports suggest, deputy leader of the Opposition and another PB member, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan issued whip to Baby asking him to attend the House from June 16 onwards. Even though Kodiyeri denies this, Baby came to the Assembly on June 16 and voted on the demand for grants. It was definitely a sudden climb down from Baby’s side, of course to avoid the State leaders’ wrath. Earlier, Baby told the media men that he was keeping aloof from the House as he had to attend some other programmes.
It is reported that he came to the House after Central leaders gave him an assurance that central committee and PB would consider the matter next week.CPM is in a perplexed state after the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. In Kerala, the blame game started even before the counting, thanks to the prophetic concession of the defeat. An arrogant CPM State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan stole the whole show by calling Premchandran para naari meaning “nastiest fellow”. The whole State discussed this during the whole election campaign. It created a negative image for CPM in Kerala. Consequently, RSP’s Premachandran defeated Baby. People believe that Pinarayi’s aforementioned shout was instrumental in reducing the vote share of CPM and LDF. Baby believes so too.
Meanwhile, Baby’s day in the Assembly has kicked-off one more controversy. Speaker G Karthikeyan said that Baby attended the House sans signing in the register and he participated in the discussion hence both actions violated the norms.

Marxists Do Not Appear To Be Different From Fascists

Marxists’ tolerance level is always zero or quite often minus because they can never imagine the existence of a different ideology, policy or an organisation. This statement is true everywhere, be it Russia, China, Europe, India or better to say, ‘anywhere under the sun’! Naturally their youth and students wings follow the same path. And, they go to any extend to keep their bosses in good humours. That is what hitting the headlines and annoying the democrats’ thoughts in Kerala.
The first incident was the publication of the students’ annual magazine of the Government Polytechnic, Kunnamkulam, Thrissur district. The principal and six students were arrested for adding PM Narendra Modi’s picture in the magazine under the headline ‘Negative Faces’. The others under the title are Adolf Hitler, George W Bush, Osama bin Laden, sandalwood smuggler Veerappan, late Liberation Tigers of Tamil Ealem (LTTE) chief V Prabahakaran, etc. It is reported that the students were charged under various IPC sections for concealing design to commit offence, giving provocation, punishment for defamation and printing matter known to be defamatory.
Then comes the next college magazine, Name. It insulted PM Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and Indian spiritual leader Amrithanandamayi Devi. Magazine was brought out by a SFI oriented editorial board. It belongs to Sree Krishna College, near the Guruvayoor temple town. The college is administered by a government body, Guruvayoor Temple Board. It says, “NaMo means nayinte-mon in Malayalam (dog’s son in English). Amrithanandamayi Amma is the “mother who sells largest number of kisses in Kerala.” One of these magazines has even published a poem portraying Mother India in the dirtiest derogatory manner.
These references are in a satirical word puzzle published in the magazine. When ABVP students protested against this negative journalism and boycotted classes and BJP resorted to direct agitations, the scenario changed. Meanwhile, Congress leader and State Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala informed the State Assembly that the registration of cases against the men behind the magazine is unfair. CPM State supremo Pinarayi Vijayan said that ‘RSS has been trying to uphold Narendra Modi as the symbol of virtues. But, the fact is different, Modi represents evil forces! At the end of the day what Kerala witnesses is the Dilli ki jaise dosti between Congress and CPM when something comes up against Sangh parivar and Modi. -T Satisan from Kochi
