Rashtra Sevika Samiti’s Annual Shiksha Varg in Bengaluru
Rashtra Sevika Samiti’s 15-day Annual Shiksha Varg was held at Rashtrotthana Vidya Kendra at Banashankari in Bengaluru. The valedictory ceremony was held at RBI Grounds at JP Nagar. Pramukh Sanchalika V Shanthakka addressed the valedictory function and appealed to the women to build a bright future for India. She said women are torch-bearers and they have a big responsibility not only towards the family but also to the society and the nation. Smt Girija Umesh, Director for Foundation of Art and Culture for Deaf was the chief guest on the occasion.
The Varga began on April 27 was concluded on May 11, 2014. Nearly 143 select volunteers underwent training at the Varga. Vasantha Swami, was the Vargadhikari. Basically there were two Vargas—Pravesh in which106 trainees underwent training and Prabodh in which there were 37 trainees. Shantakka spoke on how to safeguard the future of India. We are the torch-bearer and we have big responsibility twoards Bharat Mata.
National Executive Meet in Mangalore
Country’s premier student organisation the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) demanded the Central government to roll back Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) in Delhi University. The Parishad adopted a resolution to this effect at the recently held National Executive meeting in Mangalore from May 26 to 29 and said the FYUP lowers the educational level, adds an extra year with its financial burden and decreases job opportunities. It appealed to resume the three years u
ndergraduate course.
“The programme is a gross violation of the National Policy on Education (which envisages 10+2+3 patter of education) due to which programmes of the two types and two durations (3years and 4 years) at the same educational level have been implemented. While there is a need to increase seats and resources in higher education, the imposition of one extra year and its financial burden is an injustice to poor students and the ones with limited resources. In this programme, one year is being wasted in the name of impractical foundation courses. Even after increasing an extra year, the syllabus of the main subject has been severely diluted which will seriously undermine the quality of education and research in this prestigious university,” said the resolution adding that it has been imposed due to the impractical, anarchist and myopic educational policies of the previous Congress Government and its primary intention is to benefit the foreign universities.

Sarsanghachalak visits

Swami Varla Devasthanam
RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat visited Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam in Vijayawada on May 23 along with Narsapuram MP, Gokaraju Gangaraju and other top leaders of the organisation. Executive officer of the temple Shri V Trinadha Rao welcomed them and priests gave temple honours to them. Shri Bhagwat was in the city to attend a training camp at Nuthakki in Mangalagiri Mandal of Guntur district.
Bharat Parikrama Yatra reaches Gangotri
The Bharat Parikrama Yatra being conducted by former Akhil Bharatiya Sewa Pramukh of RSS Shri Sitaram Kedilaya reached Gangotri in Uttarakhand on May 22, the 651 day of its launch. In Gangotri, he had discussion with of Mandir Pujaris and requested them to spend major of the temple funds on village development activities. He also met Swami Raghvendranandaji Maharaj of Ishavasyam Ashram and discussed various issues with him. He also had meeting with Swami Vashistha of Dandi Ashram, Swami Chaitanya of Shri Krishna Sewa Ashram and many prominent personalities of the region. On May 27, he had long meeting with Dr Nityananda at Maneri Ashram.
Earlier, Shri Kedilaya visited Yamunotri on May 3 and offered prayers and had discussions with the villagers there. The Yatra will reach Kedarnath on June 19 and Badrinath on July 3. It will be in Uttarakhand till August 5. On August 6 it will enter Uttar Pradesh from Pilibhit district. At the time of writing this news Sitaramji was at Gangori Village under Uttarkashi district on May 28. On May 19 Shri Kedilaya wrote to Prime Minister shri Narendra Modi expressing his best wishes.
Krishnananda Pai passes away
BJP’s former Kerala State treasurer and well known textile merchant K Krishnananda Pai passed way due to heart ailment in a Mysore hospital recently. He was a prominent BJP leader in Kassergode district of Kerala and was party’s State treasurer for three consecutive terms under three presidents—Adv. PS Sreedharan Pillai, PK Krishnadas and V Muraleedharan. Prior to that he was Kassergode district treasurer. He was the son of prominent Jan Sangh leader of the yester years the late K Ramachandra Pai. Pai is survived by mother Seethabai, wife Viay Pai, daughters Dr Mekhna Pai and Dr Prarthana Pai and son-in-law Dr Sunil Pai.
Krishnananda Pai served in the capacities of Campco Director, Central Government representative in the Director Board of the State of Bank of India, Director of Kassergode Co-operative Marketing Society, Director of Janmabhumi, etc. He started his social work as an ordinary RSS swayamsevak. He had played pivotal role in growing, grooming and empowering Sangh activities in Kassergode. He was an expert in procurement, marketing and data collection of agricultural produces of not only Kassergode and Kerala but also the whole country.

Veteran Pracharak Anant Ramchandra Gokhale is no more
Veteran Sangh Pracharak Anant Ramchandra Gokhale, who worked with Dr Hedgewar, passed away at Bharati Bhavan, the RSS office in Lucknow, on May 25. He was 96. He was unwell for some time.
Popular as Gokhaleji among the swayamsevaks, he lived a highly disciplined life and set many precedents before the swayamsevaks through his daily conduct. Despite growing age and weakness he was reluctant to get anybody’s help from cleaning the room to washing his clothes.
Born on September 23, 1918 in Khandava of Madhya Pradesh, he came in contact of RSS in his student age. He became a swayamsevak in 1938 at Dhantoli Shakha of Nagpur. He also came in contact of Dr Hedgewar at Reshim Bagh Shakha the same year. After meeting Dr Hedgewar he become more active in Sangh activities. After the passing away of Dr Hedewar in 1940, attended a three day Tarun Shivir at the ground near Ambajhari Talab where after hearing the bauddhik of the then Sarsanghachalak Shri Guruji he decided to become a Sangh Pracharak. He finally came out as Sangh Pracharak in 1942. He played a key role in the activities of Sangh along with eminent and committed swayamsevaks like Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya, Atal Behari Vajpayee, Sunder Singh Bhandari, Barister Narendrajit Singh, etc. He also got the opportunity of becoming a Shikshak at the Sangh Shiksha Varga in which fourth Sarsanghach-alak Rajju Bhaiya underwent organisational training.
