Kodakkara, Kochi: Bhoomi-pujan for the International Sri Krishna Kendra (ISK) was performed on April 16 by Kanchi Acharya Swami Jayendra Saraswati. The ISK is a re-creation of the age old concept of Vrindavan Village, in central Kerala on the slopes of the Western Ghats, about 5 km off Kochi-Thrissur National Highway near Kodakara.
During the ceremony, Swamy Athmasvaroopaanada mixed the assorted waters collected from 43 rivers from across Kerala with Gangajal and sprinkled on the sacred land. Incarnation of Dwapara Yuga Vrindhavan to present Kaliyuga was started out by worshiping Gomata under the guidance of Vezha Parambu Chithrabhnu Nambuthiripadu and Kaimukku Vaidhikan Sreedharan Namboothiri.
The public function was inaugurated by Kochi Devasaom Ombudsman Justice R Bhaskaranan who said the project would be a milestone in the history of Balagokulam. Balagokulam chief mentor Shri MA Krishnan emphasised the potential impact of ISK in the society and the transformation. Shri PEB Menon, Pranta Sanghachalak of RSS also called ISK project as another milestone in the Sangh history of Kerala. A centre devoted to informal and formal education on Sri Krishna’s life, teachings and actions would resurrect our value system. It is in this perspective that Balagokulam (a nationwide cultural organisation, registered in 1974, engaged in inspiring children with human values and cultural activities through weekly classes) has initiated steps to establish International Sreekrishna Kendram (ISK), as a unit under Bal Samskara Kendram (a Public Charitable Trust, registered in 1988).
It aims to establish a model village designed to portray Sri Krishna’s life, teachings and actions, in simple and lucid forms. Thus, any visitor to the centre (children, youth and adults – both from India and abroad) will be amplified by the all pervading nature of Sri Krishna. In addition, the visitor will also be able to understand and appreciate the contributions of our ancient masters towards moulding an ideal society that loved to live in peace, poise and harmony and to accept aging gracefully.
The model village among other things would include Sri Krishna Temple, Veda Vijnana Kendra, meditation centre, amusement park, tapovan, herbal garden, Payaswini Goushala, Nakshatra Garden, museum, Kalari Yoga Kendram, Sevabhavnam and vocational training, children’s park, etc.

Solidarity with the youth of North-East
“It needs patience and time to understand the north-eastern region. Similarly one needs a ‘heart’ to understand the pain that the students of north-east underwent after the brutal killing of Nido Tania.
The language, dialect, food habits and living style of all the seven states of the region are different from each other but when it comes to nationality they all are seen standing with rest of the country,” said RSS Sahsarkaryavah Dr Krishna Gopal, while speaking at a symposium organised in New Delhi. He further said the students coming from any State of the country for higher education in any part of the county should be extended full support.
Sushri Lulu Nido, sister of slain Nido Tania, who is also a student in Delhi, shared the dais and said the mentality which killed her brother is dangerous for the country. She said they may look like Chinese but nothing is Chinese in among them—neither mind, nor body, thinking and everything is Indian, only Indian. Dr Ajit Doval, retd IPS and director of the Vivekananda International Centre stressed the need that the youth from north-east should learn the technique of mingling with the people of the rest of the regions.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram vice president Shri Kripa Prasad Singh, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Tarun Vijay, former Tribal Commissioner Shri SK Kaul, noted Naga leader NC Zeliyang’s daughter Smt Linda Naimai and many students from the north-eastern states.
