In the memory of veteran journalist and former Rajya Sabha MP the late Dinanath Mishra, Indian Media Centre organised a condolence meeting at Prerana Institute of Noida on December 7. Many prominent personalities, family members of Dinanathji and students of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication attended the meeting.

Noted wrier and historian Shri Makhanlal, while sharing his personal experiences on the occasion said Dinanathji was a very down to earth person who always supported and helped his colleagues and juniors. He said that in 2004 when he was being targeted by many over the issue of ‘saffronisation’ of history and even his close ones turned their backs on him, it was Dinanathji who stood behind him.

Senior journalist Shri KG Suresh discussed about Dinanathji’s commitment for the nationalist cause. He said Dinanathji always wanted to start magazines with a “nationalist” outlook. “India First Foundation” and “Eternal India” (Chirantan Bharat in Hindi) were his dream projects.

Senior fellow in Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) Shri RNP Singh discussed about Dinanathji’s contributions to the field of journalism and said that he always encouraged young and upcoming journalists and respected people from all the school of thoughts. Shri Singh further said that today many nationalist “think tanks” have come into being but the first one was “India First Foundation” founded by Dinanathji. He said that the aim of Dinanathji was to make “Intellectual Warriors” for Indian Nationalism and hence he never compromised on the quality.

Many senior journalists and writers, present on the occasion like Shri Shamlal, Shri Shrikrishna, Shri RM Nair, Shri Jagdish Upasane, Shri RL Frnacis, etc. paid their tribute to Dinanathji. Vote of thanks was proposed by IMC general secretary (Delhi) Smt Rajani Nagpal.      (Aniruddh Subhedar)
