IN order to take the message of Swami Vivekananda to the youth effectively during his 150th birth anniversary, a massive marathon was organised in Delhi on November 11 under the banner of Swami Vivekananda 150th Birth Anniversary Committee, New Delhi. Thousands of youth participated in the marathon. Former Cricketer Shri Chetan Chouhan, RSS Akhil Bharatiya Sah Sampark Pramukh Shri Ram Madhav, editor of National Dunia newspaper Shri Shailendra, noted neurologist Dr Sitaram Agrawal, Arjuna awardees Rajesh Kumar (wrestling), Bhanu Sachdeva (swimming), Indu Puri (Tanis), DUSU president Aman Awana, Joint Secretary Raju Rawat and many others joined the marathon.
The run for awakening the nation was organised at 17 different places across Delhi the same day. The main function was organised in Delhi University, where over 14,000 youth joined the marathon. Baba Satya Narayan Maurya made some patriotic paintings after the completion of the run. Other functions were organised at Yamuna Vihar, Mayur Vihar, Krishna Nagar, Lady Shri Ram College in south Delhi, Ambedkar Nagar, Vasant Kunj, RK Puram, Shekh Sarai, Dwarika, Janakpuri, Sultanpuri, Rohini, Narela and Jehangirpuri.
Flagging off the run Shri Ram Madhav spoke about Swami Vivekananda’s teachings. He stressed upon his philosophy and said the youth should contribute in nation building. He said it is because of the popularity of Swamiji that his birth anniversary is being celebrated in more than 90 countries.  He said the fruitfulness of this celebration is that the youth stand against evil, fight for the good and eradicate poverty, illiteracy and corruption, etc.
