Sangh Sangam in Jammu

Rashtriya Swayam-sevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsangha-chalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat blamed the Centre for patronising forces preaching secessionism in the country. The Centre’s weakness is encouraging politicians like Omar Abdullah to propagate secessionism and to challenge the accession of Jammu & Kashmir with the Union of India.

Addressing a mammoth rally (Sangh Sangam) of swayamsevaks and prominent citizens at Parade Ground in Jammu on September 29, Shri Bhagwat said the accession of J&K to India is irreversible as it has the same sanctity as that of the accession of other princely states, which merged with the Indian Union after Independence. Kashmir is our land and we have to live here, he added.

The RSS chief said Kashmir has been culturally, civilisationally and politically part of India since ages and shall ever remain the country’s integral part, as the nation is not prepared to give an inch of land to Pakistan, but also referred to the controversial meeting between Omar Abdullah and the visiting European Union delegation at Srinagar last week in which the J&K Chief Minister said that J&K had only acceded and not merged with India and charged the state government with pursuing policies calculated to cause migration of minorities from places like Kishtwar so that the secessionists could enact anti-India acts with utmost ease. The minority community in Kishtwar district was targeted by anti-India and communal forces on August 9, 2013 and created an alarming situation there.

“Since the days of King Lalitaditya, about 1500 years ago, Kashmir was a part of India. It is unfortunate that the state is sponsoring violence in Jammu & Kashmir to force migration of the minority communities. The Centre’s weak policies are encouraging politicians like Omar Abdullah to preach secessionism and to challenge the lawful and constitutional merger of Jammu & Kashmir with India. I want to remind Omar Abdullah and his ilk that the merger of Jammu & Kashmir with India is unconditional, unchallenged and irreversible so the country would not accept such secessionist language. The State of Jammu & Kashmir acceded to India the same way other princely states acceded to India on or before or after August 15, 1947,” the RSS chief said to set the record straight and caution Omar Abdullah and the likes of him.

Snubbing Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah for his reported remarks before the visiting delegation of European Union that accession of J&K with Indian Union was conditional, the RSS chief said it is a cause of concern that those who are supposed to defend the national unity and integrity are making such irresponsible statements that too at a time when fidayeen attack has taken place in the State.

We can understand that the people who are supposed to defend the unity and integrity of the nation are talking about the division of the country he said, adding the forces keep their vested interests in mind and were playing in the hands of foreign powers.

Paying rich tribute to army personnel, cops and civilians who laid down their lives in recent attacks at Hiranagar and Samba, he said the security forces have been protecting the lives of people in this border state and protecting frontiers for 67 years now. The  terrorism and fidayeen attacks are not only a problem for them but for us also. We are secure only when someone becomes a camouflage to protect us, so we too have to exhibit unity as well as dedication and make the enemy realise that we are not going to leave an inch of our land, he added.

Shri Bhagwat said that army and security forces can only work when they have the force of people behind them and united society gives ample courage and power to the forces. Instead of depending on rulers people have themselves rid the country from the problems of terrorism, naxalism, discrimination etc by fighting them out, he added.

While referring to recent violence in Kishtwar, he said it was a conspiracy to uproot the nationalist people from there. Pointing towards the intrusion and interference of the neighbouring countries he said that it is due to the weak policies of Indian government that they dare to do such acts. He asserted that these countries otherwise don’t have the power to fight with India even for 15 days.
