Talks and terror can’t go together (Organiser 26.5.2013); This is with reference to ‘Talks and terror cannot go together’ in Organiser by Pramod Kumar. The writer has rightly written that “ Any haste in dealing with Pakistan may prove costly. India must see whether Nawaz Sharif takes steps to rein effectively the radicals and ISI or continues to follow their anti-India agenda.” Infact Pakistan elections were faught as per the dictates of Talibans. Under the tutelage of terrorists Pakistan removed its liberal parties from electoral scene. Awami National Party leader Asfandyar Wali Khan has stopped living in Sindh province. It’s 800 workers were killed by terrorists. Similarly, Pakistan People’s Party had been under constant threat. Asif Ali-Zardari, President of Pakistan could not do much canvassing during election. His son Bilawal left the country for fear of his life. The son of Yousaf Raza Gilani, former Prime Minister of Pakistan, was kidnapped and Gilani had been persuading ISI for his son’s release. The liberal parties PPP and ANP had almost closed down their offices during election and conceded defeat. The same is the case of Tehreek-e-Insaf Party of Imran Khan. Human right activists are non-functional. Asma Jahangir is not at all successful in addressing the plight of women of minority communities. Salmaan Taseer, a journalist, was murdered for criticising the dreaded blasphemy law targeting non-Muslims. People in Pakistan occupied Kashmir are facing inhuman behaviour and anybody who talks of human rights has to risk his life. Similarly in Bangladesh, too the secular Awami League will not be able to restore the constitution to its original secular character (as envisaged by Sheikh Mujibur Rehman) fearing backlash, although it has three-fourth majority. There is a prediction that new Pakistan government may last only for a year or two. So indications are that no amount of talks with Pakistan and Bangladesh, will bring fruitful result.

Point size in Organiser is too small This is to put to you notice that the point size in Organiser is too small to be read by old people like me. Therefore I request you to kindly increase the point size of the weekly so that the rich content of the weekly can be read with an ease and pleasure, without putting strain on eyes. Secondly nowhere in the paper are given subscription rates. Due to this I had to wait for full one month to get my first copy. I hope these basic problems would be looked into at the earliest.

Regional parties have got no place in Karnataka The regional parties in Karnataka have no place, prospect and future as they are having in rest of other three southern states. The same has once again be proved by the prudent electorate in just concluded Assembly polls by electing only six candidates from the newly floated Karnataka Janatha Paksha (KJP) of BS Yeddyurappa and four from the Badagara Shramika Raitala Congress (BSRC) of Sreeramulu. Both of them were in BJP. After floating their new parties both of them had full confidence to secure majority and to form the government on their own, without the support of others. According to them national parties can’t safeguard the interest of the State. Only regional parties can do it. In Karnataka many political groups have founded their own regional parties in the past. State witnessed about 15 regional parties during the past 50 years period. But none of them survived and subsequently merged into Congress Party. I feel that now since both these parties have no place to go, therefore they should join hands with madam Sonia and save themselves from the CBI enquiry.

Getting along with the Dragon(Organiser, 12.5.2013); In Shri MV Kamath’s interesting column in Organiser it is said, “According to Robert Lawrence Kuhn, business and political adviser to Xi, “What can help is for both India and China to work together in third party regions like Africa, Latin America, West Asia and Eastern Europe.” But that would be fatal for India. China detest competition from India, except to exhibit its immense superiority. China always want be the winner against India. Even Vishwanathan Anand must lose to Hang Hao of China! We must learn to work alongside China and improve ourselves but not listen to the dictates of Great China.

NDA’s six years vs UPA’s nine years rule UPA-1 and now UPA –II has completed nine years rule under the Prime Ministership of an economist, Manmohan Singh. As Union Finance Minister Manmohan Singh paved the way for liberal economic policies. On the other hand NDA rule headed by the then Prime Minister of India Atal Behari Vajpayee created a great image among the Indians in regard to taming of Inflation, foreign policy, Pokran nuclear blast in Rajasthan, visit to Pakistan in bus and successful Kargil War. As compared to the six years rule of NDA the UPA-I and UPA-II headed by Manmohan Singh have failed to deliver the best as per the expectations of the masses. Incursion of the Chinese troops in the Indian territory, inflation, series of scams rocked the nation and put the masses in dilemma. Now it is up to the electorate to decide the future of UPA in 2014 Parliamentary elections.

We are One Nation, One People, Beware (Organiser, 19.5.2013); This refers to ‘We are One Nation, One people, Beware’ by MV Kamath in Organiser. He has criticised weakness of the present leadership at the Centre, and various State leaders for their policies. However his negative views against LTTE, and Tamils are misplaced. LTTE came into existence in Sri Lanka much later, when Hindu Tamils in millions were declared stateless and forced to leave Sri Lanka, although they had lived there for more than a century. The remaining Hindu Tamils were also teated as second class citizens. However Muslim Tamils received good treatment by Sinhalese. Nobody, nor the government of India ruled by Congress bothered, because Hindus do not carry any importance for Congressmen. What was ‘One Nation’ doing at that time? But Hindu Tamils of Sri Lanka are not stupid and week like Hindus in India. They created LTTE for getting a separate homeland. Instead of helping Hindu Tamils of Sri Lanka, Rajiv Gandhi asked the IPKF (Indian Peace Keeping force) to attack LTTE. The LTTE fought in self defence against IPKF and Sinhalese forces, and took revenge from Rajiv Gandhi, the then Prime Minister, who was responsible for attacking LTTE. LTTE was never anti-India, but nasty behaviour of Congress rulers forced them to kill Rajiv Gandhi. This situation has a risen due to anti-Hindu policies of the Congress rulers in India.

What about coalition dharma? (Organiser, 19.5.2013); Apropos Shri HS Mehtani’s letter captioned ‘What about coalition dharma?’ in Organiser’s Reader’s Forum page. One cannot agree more with his views. Pseudo secularism being practiced by a number of people is harming the nation itself by striking the embers of distrust between communities. I have no doubt, that in view of all the whiplashing Modi has taken so far, he will prove to be what he speaks of his secular credentials and emerge as a friend of even the Muslim brethern if he is at the helm of the nation. .
