With nominating Shri Vimal Chadha as convenor of Kenya, the Africa chapter of Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP) was launched in Nairobi recently. During his week-long visit to African continent OFBJP cell convener Shri Vijay Jolly launched the chapter. He visited Ethiopia and Kenya and met with prominent NRI’s settled there. He also exchanged dialogue for increasing the level of Indo-BJP-Africa and its communication and friendship.
Shri Vimal Chadha is a leading Kenyan optometrist. He is currently Chairman of Kirimara opticals Ltd. and has branches in Embu, Nyeri, Meru and in Isiolo cities of Kenya. He is a prominent NRI settled in Kenya for the last 30 years. He is also an active volunteer of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh there. He served as a Councilor in Embu Municipal Corporation and is currently County Chairman of Embu Chamber of Commerce, member Hindu Council of Kenya and actively associated with Kenya Arya Samaj.
While nominating Shri Chadha as OFBJP chief in Kenya Shri Jolly presented him a lotus scarf, a copy of BJP presidential speech of Shri Rajnath Singh and his good wishes. At Deendayal bhawan located in Nairobi, prominent Kenya HSS leaders present on the occasion were Shri Chunilal D Haria (Kenya Sanghachalak), Shri Navin Bhai Shah (Nairobi Sanghachalak), HSS Pracharak Shri Ram Chandra Pandey, Shri Prakash H Pramar (Kenya HSS Karyavah), Shri Paresh J Shah (Kenya HSS Sah Karyavah) and seniors like Shri AE Purushottam Rao, Shri Brahm Datt Sreedhar, Shri Chhaggan Lal D Shah (Chairman Hindu Religious Service Center), Shri Shanti Lal P Shah and Shri Uttam Lal, etc. In Kenya, HSS is actively engaged in tree plantation drive, collecting blood donations, organising Sarva Siksha Abhiyan in the education sector and engaging youth through sports activities etc. Weekly HSS shakhas are organised every Sunday morning.
Shri Jolly found great connectivity of senior BJP and RSS leaders especially with Kenya. In a visitor’s book located at Deendayal Bhawan in Nairobi, he found and photographed the autographs of former Indian Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Morari Babu, Mayor of Delhi, Shri Rajinder Gupta, the late Jagannath Rao Joshi, the late Bhaurao Deoras, the late Kedar Nath Sahani, the late Nanaji Deshmukh, the late Prof Rajju Bhaiya, the late KS Sudarshan, the late HV Seshadri, the late DB Thengadi, RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat, veteran VHP leader Shri Ashok Singhal, senior Pracharak Shri Madan Das, RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi, and Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
