NEWS ROUND-UP-6

—Justice SN Srivastava

Retired justice of the Allahabad High Court Shri Shambhunath Srivastava termed the Communal and Targeted Violence Bill as a conspiracy to divide the country on communal lines and said it must be opposed by one and all. He was speaking at the State convention of Uttar Pradesh Adhivakta Parishad in Meerut on April 14.  District judge Shri Bachchulal and State president of the Parishad Shri Lal Bahadur were also present on the occasion. More than 250 delegates attended the meeting.

Justice Srivastava further said it is due to the step motherly treatment and policies of the Government that the Hindus have been reduced to minority in eight states. He said many problems are being deliberately created in the country, which have posed a serious threat to democracy. District judge Shri Bachchulal said everyone should respect the law and should not indulge in any act that goes against public welfare or the national interest.

Speaking at the concluding ceremony on April 15, former justice of the Allahabad High Court Justice Sri Dharmavir Sharma, who delivered the historic judgement on Sri Ramjanmabhoomi, said the court decision on Sri Ramjanmabhoomi was purely based on the archaeological evidences found during the excavation and also during the demolition of the disputed structure on December 6, 1992. He described the decision as the toughest decision of his life.
