NEWS ROUND-6

Unveiling Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s statue in Hyderabad on April 14, VHP working president Dr Pravin Togadia demanded immediate apology from the Government for insulting Dr Ambedkar. “Dr Ambedkar kept a positive provision of reservations for Scheduled Castes in the Constitution to help them come off a long social suppression, poverty and halted progress. With his bright vision, he also opposed religion-based reservations in various meetings and debates while the Constitution was being framed. He knew well that any move or provision for religion based reservations will take Bharat to the extreme point of no return to real development and social unity. His opposition to creation of Pakistan was also based on the same thought process, which was led by the greatest dream for united Bharat’s progress,” Dr Togadia said.

He said now bending before Muslims and Christians for votes, the UPA and a few state governments are snatching reservations and thereby roti, education, jobs, loans, land etc from the SCs, OBCs and Vanvasis to be showered on Muslims and Christians. “This cruel action is not only anti-Constitutional and unjust towards the real needy but also absolutely insulting to Dr Ambedkar and his vision for Bharat. VHP demands that the Union Government and the state governments that have in any form given reservations to Muslims and Christians either by snatching from the SCs, OBCs and Vanvasis or otherwise, apologise to Dr Ambedkar, all the SCs, OBCs and Vanvasis also to all others in Bharat and also immediately withdraw all reservations given or promised to Muslims and Christians,” he said.
