Tragedy at Gayatri Parivar function kills 16

RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat expressed deepest condolence on the death of 16 pilgrims at the function of Gayatri Parivar in Haridwar on November 8. In his condolence message released from New Delhi he said, “I am shocked and saddened by the news of the unfortunate demise of many devotees of the Gayatri Pariwar at Haridwar today. At a time when the Gayatri Pariwar is celebrating the birth anniversary of its founder and revered spiritual guru Pt Sriram Sharmaji, this incident came as a bolt from the blue for the entire Hindu society.

“Pt. Sriram Sharmaji’s spiritual sojourn, inspired and influenced millions of souls on this earth. Under the able leadership of Dr Pranav Pandyaji, the Gayatri Parivar continues to spread the noble message of our dharma far and wide. In fact, the turn out in millions at the venue of the sacred ceremonies coinciding with the celebrations is in itself a pointer to the utmost devotion in which Pt. Sharmaji is held by countless people today.
“I convey my deepest condolences personal as well as on behalf of the RSS to Dr Pranav Pandyaji and the members of the families who have lost their loved ones in this tragedy. Haridwar is devabhoomi, the land of Gods. I pray to the Almighty that the souls that departed in His land may be accorded a place of honour in His abode. I also pray for the completion of the birth centenary of Pt. Sriram Sharmaji without any further hindrance and long and promising future for the Gyatri Parivar in its mission.”
