Chidambaram Hits A Hornet’s Nest. Revisiting the chimera of ‘Hindu terror’ (Organiser, 5-9-2010); Cornered for its inability and unwillingness to address the burning issue of terrorism, the UPA has come up with the concept of ‘Hindu terror’. The term ‘Islamic terror’ is not an invention of Hindu nationalists, but of the world community at large, responding to the scourge of terrorism perpetrated by radicals who cite religious justification of their acts. The bogey of ‘ Hindu’ or ‘Saffron’ terror is nothing but a crude attempt on part of UPA-II to deflect attention from its incompetence in handling the internal security threat effectively. Are a few botched attempts by associated groups enough to describe it as a phenomenon as did the Home Minister ? The term ‘ Hindu terror’ is being used by UPA government to draw Muslim votes. It is a fallacious coinage. The concept of jihad is alien to Hinduism which preaches Sarve janah sukhino bhavantu. Let everyone achieve happiness.
