CENTRAL Executive Council meeting of World Organisation of Students & Youth (WOSY) was convened at Osmania University’s Centre for American Studies premises in Hyderabad from August 21 to 22. The meeting was attended by 45 members representing various chapters. National organising secretary of ABVP Shri Sunil Ambekar and joint national organising secretary Shri KN Raghunandan who are also the advisory committee members of WOSY, were also present. The meeting was presided over by chairperson Dr Rashmi Singh and general secretary Dr MS Chaitra.
Dr Rashmi Singh called upon the WOSY members to work energetically for expanding the organisation. Dr Chaitra spoke about the crisis generated by the forces of modernity in all spheres of life-environment, politics, society and relations between countries.
The two day meeting was divided into two sessions. The first session reviewed the third International Conference organised in New Delhi. In the second session, the coordinators of various chapters presented the highlights of their activities. The members were of the opinion that the time has come to take WOSY on the global stage by having its presence in other countries of the world. To begin with, members suggested that the WOSY should commence building relationships with overseas organisations having similar objectives and with other ideologically kindred groups.
As a part of the two day conclave, a public meeting was convened at the Centre for Public Enterprise, Osmania University. Vice Chancellor of the University Prof T Tirupati Rao, expressed immense appreciation for WOSY activities among the international student community. At the concluding session, Dr MS Chaitra handed over the charge of general secretary to newly elected general secretary Shri Aniket Kale who is a full time worker. (FOC)
