SHIKSHA Bachao Andolan Samiti and Shiksha Sanskrit Utthan Nyas urged all the universities and higher educational institutions of the country to conduct convocation ceremonies only in Indian dress. In a resolution adopted at the annual meeting of the Samiti and the Nyas held in Bhopal from May 8 to 9, both the organisations congratulated the Union Minister Shri Jairam Ramesh for throwing away the ‘foreign gown and the cap’ at the convocation ceremony of Indian Forest Management Institute held in Bhopal on April 2.

There are already many educational institutions in the country which are alert and have been using only the Indian dress during their convocation ceremonies. Some of them include Dev Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Gurukul Kangadi University of Haridwar, Ravindra Bharati University of Kolkata, Uttar Maharashtra Vishwavidyalaya of Jalgaon, Sant Tukdoji Maharaj University of Nagpur, IIT Mumbai, Guru Ghashidas University of Bilaspur, etc. All these are reputed educational institutions of the country.

In a resolution, the Shiksha Bachao Andolan Samiti and the Nyas welcomed all these institutions and appealed to the other universities and institutions for using only the Indian dress during their convocation ceremonies. The resolution also appealed to the people to send memorandums to the Vice Chancellors of various universities to conduct the convocation ceremonies only in Indian dress.

The meeting also decided to conduct massive demonstrations in all the states and metro cities against the insult of the Hindus in the book, Hindus: An Alternative History, written by Wendy Donigar. The Samiti also decided to conduct workshops and seminars in various parts of the country on the syllabus prepared by it for character building and personality development.
