SADHAVI is an educated, intelligent, woman married to an IAS officer Raghav. Everything is smooth. And then Raghav is sent on deputation to Paris. Sadhavi accompanies him and that’s when she meets Kanav, a teacher and a scholar. In Kanav, she finds the mental stimulation which is missing in her relationship with her husband. She connects with him as he takes her through the world of museums, drawings, paintings, lithographs, and sculptures. There is intense physical attraction, but Sadhavi’s conservative upbringing and her loyalty to her husband and family, prevent her from giving into the physical need.

“Kanav came into my life at a time when at a subconscious level I was asking myself some significant questions about my role with reference to other people and my responsibility to myself and the world at large. … My interaction with him brought to the surface… a certain desire not to be enslaved by the inevitable dailyness of things,” muses Sadhavi.

Finally coming to terms, she tells herself, “I have finally managed to side-step my need for Kanav … At the moment it’s a certain emotional and intellectual need that I am not able to renounce … I cant see Raghav hurting because of me. I pray for a calmer connection with Kanav.”

Passionately written, the book tackles deep emotions, emotions which are as much said as unsaid.
