THE National Executive Meeting of Rashtriya Sevika Samiti was held in Surat from February 18 to 21. Representatives from all the states of the country attended the meeting. Discussion over the concluding ceremony of Tai Apte’s birth centenary year celebration was held. Since next year will be celebrated as Bal Shakha Varsha, discussion was held over the activities to be taken up in the year.
The meeting strongly condemned the attempt of denigrating Draupadi by Telugu writer Dr YL Prasad. The meeting appealed to the Sahitya Academy not to promote the literature that denigrates the national icons. The meeting also criticised the decision of the Jammu & Kashmir Government and the Central Government to receive the youth who have gone to PoK and termed it as open invitation to terrorists. The meeting appealed to the government not to take any decision, which poses danger to the national security. Expressing concern over the efforts of dividing the society in the name of region and language, the meeting said such attempts should not be allowed to get success. The meeting also expressed concern over the sky rocketing prices of essential commodities and said the government should change its economic policy to arrest price rise.
