J Sisupalanji 74, one of the oldest Sangh karyakartas of Kerala, passed away at Thiruvananthapuram on February 21, after a brief illness. A disciple of Swami Chinmayananda and Secretary of Chinmaya Mission, he got attracted to the RSS in the early fifties.

He was close to all the PP Sarsanghachalaks from Guruji to Mohan Bhagwatji. When Left leaders tried to disrupt a RSS meeting addressed by Guruji in Thiruvananthapuram in early sixties, it was Sisupalanji who formed a cordon with a group of swayamsevaks around the stage and drove away the commies after sound thrashing.

A zilla and vibhag karyavah of RSS, he was organising secretary of Kshetriya Samrakshan Samiti, Hindu Munnani and President of Hindu Aikya Vedi.

It was he who led the Nilakkal agitation for removal of the Cross near Sabarimala and removal of Papal podium in Thiruvananthapuram. He was the official Sangh voice in talks with government agencies, political parties and saints.

He was a leading light in the social, cultural, political horizon of Kerala.

His funeral was attended by a large number of swayamsevaks led by Kshetriya Pracharak Sethumadhavanji, VHP leader Kummanam Rajasekharan, etc. Earlier sages, saints of all Hindu ashrams in Kerala, leaders of political parties, social and cultural personalities, and top RSS leaders visited his house and paid respects to the departed leader. .

The Defence Minister and former CM of Kerala, A K Antony, in a message described him as an able organiser. “He viewed situations pragmatically and respected the sentiments of others. I pray for his moksha”, Antony said.
