“The western model of development can never benefit Bharat. We definitely need a new model of development. We may have achieved Independence in 1947 but the economic policies that we should have adopted at that time as per the prakriti and sanskriti of the country are not there even today. This is the root cause of majority of the problems we are facing today,” said Uttar Kshetra Sanghachalak Dr Bajrang Lal Gupt. He was speaking at a seminar organised in Delhi on December 24. The seminar was organised by Akhil Bharatiya Grahak Panchayat on price rise and corruption.
Talking about the reasons of price rise Dr Gupt said the government never made sincere efforts to curb the price rise. “This is a fact that whenever there is an imbalance in demand and supply the prices rise. But nobody thought about the reason why this imbalance developed in our country. Basically wrong economic policies, principles and dealings are responsible for the price rise. The price rise cannot be arrested till there is fault in all these three things. It is necessary for us to change the model of development. It is also necessary for saving the whole world from economic recession,” he said. Shri Gupt appealed to the people not to be trapped in misleading advertisements and follow the lifestyle that promotes to consume only as much we need.
Chief Guest of the seminar former Lt. Governor of Delhi Shri Vijay Kapoor said we should not put our health at stake while consuming the junk food popularised by market forces. He said the Indian culture has stressed on coordination between tyag and bhog. Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included veteran Sangh Pracharak Shri Premchand Goel and general secretary of the Grahak Panchyat Shri Somnath Khedkar.
