National president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Shri Nitin Gadkari said the lives of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Dr K B Hedgewar were the sources of inspiration for him. “I drew inspiration for social work from the lives of these two great and worthy sons of Bharat Mata,” Shri Gadkari said during his visit to Deeksha Bhoomi and Smriti Mandir in Nagpur.

Immediately, after assuming charge as national president of BJP, Shri Gadkari, during his second visit to Nagpur, paid obeisance to Deeksha Bhoomi where Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar got initiated into Buddhism along with his thousands of followers in 1956.

Shri Gadkari drove directly to Deeksha Bhoomi from airport and offered floral tributes to the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Lord Gautam Buddha. He was welcomed there by the secretary of Dr Ambedkar Smarak Samiti Shri Sadanand Fulzele. Shri Gadkari was also felicitated by the Samiti members.

From Deeksha Bhoomi, the new BJP president drove straight to Reshambag to pay tributes to Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, founder of RSS, and Shri Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar who is popularly known as Sri Guruji. Shri Gadkari was given a traditional welcome at Reshambag Smriti Mandir campus. Secretary of Dr Hedgewar Smarak Samiti Shri Ravindra Joshi welcomed the BJP chief. Nagpur Mahanagar Sanghachalak Dr Dilip Gupta also welcomed Shri Gadkari. A book on Dr Hedgewar’s life was also released at the hands of Shri Gadkari on this occasion.

Shri Gadkari was accompanied by Nagpur Mayor Smt Archana Dehankar, MLAs Shri Devendra Fadanvis, Shri Sudhakar Deshmukh, Shri Krishna Khopde, former MP Shri Banwarilal Purohit, and other senior office-bearer of Nagpur BJP.

Dr Ambedkar injected a new life into the so-called dalit, untouchables of Hindu society by getting initiated into Buddhism and Dr Hedgewar by founding Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh gave a clarion call of uniting the Hindu society to make Bharat a strong, prosperous and resurgent world leader. Both these epoch-making events took place in Nagpur which inspired many a social and political leaders in modern India. Shri Gadkari’s visit to these places marked a new chapter in the history of BJP as he was greeted at Deeksha Bhoomi by over 1000 BJP workers from the so-called dalit section of the society.

“Dr Ambedkar gave the message of social harmony while Dr Hedgewar injected a feeling of patriotism among the members of the society,” Shri Gadkari said adding that he had come to pay obeisance to these great visionaries and draw inspiration from their lives to make him capable to shoulder the responsibility and deliver fruitful results.
