“The incredibility of the report that Liberhan Commission submitted to Central Government can be gauged from the fact that it has the name of Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee in the list of accused who was not even present in Ayodhya that day. The number of karsevaks reached Ayodhya that day was beyond our calculation. The Sangh was not in favour of demolition of the disputed structure. We wanted a peaceful agitation. But sentiments of the karsevaks was so much hurt by the actions of the centre that the demolition of the structure could not be stopped. The role of the then Central Government in demolition of the structure too cannot be ruled out,” said former RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri KS Sudarshan. He was talking to mediapersons in Bhopal on November 24.
He said the organisers had expected only a few thousand karsevaks in Ayodhya on that day but their number reached beyond the expectation. They also included a large number of women and children. The hearing in Allahabad High court had completed in November itself and the verdict of the court was expected within 8-10 days. But the verdict was not delivered and was postponed repeatedly. Shri Rajju Bhaiya then met the then Prime Minister Shri Narasimha Rao and apprised him of the huge presence of karsevaks in Ayodhya. But Shri Narasimha Rao did not take it seriously and what then happened is known to all.
Shri Sudarshan said the structure could have been saved if Shri Rao wanted. With the demolition of the structure he got the opportunity to ban RSS and also to dismiss four BJP governments. He said the excavations by both Indian and foreign experts have proved beyond doubt that there existed a temple in Ayodhya for centuries. The temple was renovated there five times and last time it was renovated in 11th century. Shri Sudarshan alleged that the central government is using the Liberhan Commission report to divert the attention of people from price rise and many other important issues. He said in Ayodhya other than Shri Ram temple no other structure could be allowed.
