Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) welcomed the court verdict in Prof. Sabbarwal case. In a statement issued from Mumbai ABVP national general secretary Shri Vishnudutt Sharma said the court verdict proved that the ABVP workers were innocent and they were falsely implicated in the case. “Having examined the 69 witnesses and other evidences the court found that the case has nothing to do with the Section 302/ 147 of the IPC which were imposed on the ABVP workers. The ABVP is the largest disciplined and cultured students organisation of the country working for the last 60 years. The allegation of Prof. Sabbarwal’s murder was leveled against the ABVP workers to malign the image of the organisation. The ABVP strongly condemns the political colour that the incident was given to draw political mileage by some vested interests. Truth triumphed in the verdict and all the allegations were proved baseless,” the statement said. The statement further said that the entire student union election process should not be questioned only with one incident of Prof. Sabbarwal.
