The UPA govern-ment'santi-aam aadmi character has been starkly exposed yet again by its decision to hike the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG.
The poor and the middle classes have been already groaning under the burden of unprecedented rise in the prices of all essential goods and services, caused by the mismanagement of the economy by the government. All the oft-repeated promises of the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister to control the rate of inflation have failed.
And now, in another act of insensitivity and betrayal, the government has taken a decision that is bound to have a cascading effect on prices. This will further impoverish crores of ordinary Indian families.
An already unpopular government has invited fresh wrath of the people.
