SHIVAJI the Great established the Hindu empire facing untold odds. In fact many consider him an incarnation of God.

Shivaji had high regards for the womenfolk. He considered it his bounden duty to ensure safety and honour to the ladies.

Shivaji decided to fight hard and with all out efforts he annexed the entire Konkan belt to his swarajya. He noticed that the Muslim marauders from Afghanistan and Arabastan had made the life of women in the Konkan belt extremely painful. These marauders came to the Konkan belt with boats by sea routes. They used to kidnap beautiful ladies from the belt, exploit them and sell them in the market, in Afghanistan and Arabastan. Shivaji was simply stunned on hearing the horrowing tales of such ladies. He took special pains to build up the naval wing of his army. He imparted special training to his soldiers in overseas skirmishes. In those days it was considered a taboo to undertake any journey by seawaters. Shivaji straightway spurned such a foolish practice and trained his soldiers to chase the Muslim marauders sailing far away over the sea and catch them alive.

The trained Maratha warriors conducted systematic chase and caught alive such marauders. They were then all presented before Shivaji. These devils were then deported forthwith into the caves from the forest fort called Vasota Fort near the city of Satara, under orders from Shivaji. They were compelled to exist over a thin line between life and death on the thorny bed of pains. They were then brought back to the Konkan seashore and kicked back to the countries of their origin.

They were told to go back to their respective countries and convey to the residents there in loud words, intercepted with pains, the following message: ?Now this Konkan belt has a King of their own. This King is awake day and night. The excruciating pains you had to suffer is just an inkling of the punishment meted out to the hoodlums who molest women. Still harsher ways of punishment are there in the store for those marauders who dare to molest the women. Go, go and tell them all this message from all the housetops and market platforms.?

Needless to add that these marauders, of their own moved here and there in their countries and conveyed the message of Shivaji with tears in their eyes and pains on their face.
