G. Satheesh Reddy gets Prof. Yeshwantrao Kelkar Yuva Puraskar?2007

Shri G. Satheesh Reddy, a scientist of Intertial Systems at Research Centre Imarat, DRDO, Hyderabad, has been selected for this year'sProf. Yeshwantrao Kelkar Yuva Puraskar. Instituted in 1991 to commemorate the inspiring life and towering personality of Prof. Yeshwantrao Kelkar, it is a joint endeavour of ABVP and Vidyarthi Nidhi Trust. The objective of presenting the award is to encourage the efforts of young social workers in various fields of public service, bring them in limelight and express gratitude towards them on behalf of the entire youth community.

The Puraskar consists of a cash prize of Rs 25,000, a memento and a certificate, and will be presented on December 3, 2007 at the special session of 53rd national conference of ABVP to be held in Kanpur from December 1 to 4.

Shri G. Satheesh Reddy was selected from the nominations received from all over the country for this year'saward in appreciation for his achievements for self-reliance in the area of Navigation for Defence Applications. He is leading a team of scientists involved in developing advanced Navigation Systems, Satelite Navigation System, Intertial Sensors and Board Computers including the software for missiles like Agni, Prithvi and Brahmos. Under his leadership, very high accuracy world-class navigation systems have been developed. He played a key role in the development of Air Defence System, which destroys the incoming enemy missiles in the air itself and protects the country. In view of the above outstanding contributions, Shri Reddy was honoured by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on July 7, 2007.  (FOC)
