Dr Ram Naresh Singh (Saharasa, Bihar) and Shri Suresh Bhatt (Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh) have been re-elected national president and national general secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) for the year 2007-08 respectively.

According to a press release issued from ABVP central office, Mumbai on November 22 by Election Officer Dr Kailash Sharma, the period for both the newly elected office bearers is one year and they would take charge at the 53rd National Conference scheduled to be held on December 1 in Kanpur.

Dr Ram Naresh Singh is a teaching faculty at Maithili Post-Graduate Department in Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University, Saharasa, Bihar. He is associated with ABVP for the last 18 years and has held various responsibilities as city president, Bihar state president and national vice president. He is well known for his deep study in the subject of national security. His articles have been included in the syllabus of graduate and post-graduate level. He contributed vitally in strengthening activities of ABVP in Bihar. He has been awarded for his contribution to Hindi literature by many national and international institutions. He had been elected national president for the first time in the National Conference of 2006-07. This would be his second term.

Shri Suresh Bhatt is basically from Nainital, Uttarakhand. He has been very active worker in his college days and also held the responsibility of president of student council of Kumaun University Uttarakhand in 1992. He has completed his graduation and post-graduation in Geography and also a degree in Law. After his education from 1994, he is working as full-time worker of ABVP. He held various responsibilities including Zilla Pramukh, state secretary, state joint organising secretary, state organising secretary and also held responsibility of national secretary of ABVP from 1999 to 2003. His headquarters is Varanasi. This would be his second term. He has been very active during various regional/national agitations including creation of Uttarakhand state and Ramjanmabhoomi movement.  (FOC)
