Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee: In the demise of J.P. Mathur the BJP has lost a robust pillar. He was an ideal worker and a cooperative colleague. Mathurji was prominent among those who sacrificed their life to spread the message of Jana Sangh and BJP to every corner of the country. He was a fearless fighter, who, despite being suffering from deadly disease like cancer, never lost hope. His departure is an irreparable loss for us. I offer my tribute to the departed soul.

Shri L.K. Advani: When Dr Mookerji founded the Jana Sangh it was then a small organisation. J.P. Mathur was one among those who played an instrumental role in the growth of party'sinfluence in the country. Since then whoever joined the party, be it Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya, Atal Behari Vajpayee or myself, we were very close to each other. At the party'scentral office Mathurji continued to work as the office secretary since beginning of the office. Thus he was closely associated with the party units of different states. Thereafter he also held several important responsibilities like the national vice president of the party. Twice he was the Member of the Parliament and worked as a chief whip of the party in the Parliament. Despite serving such important positions, he never promoted self-interest, instead he gave priority to the party. Till his last breath he was thinking for the well-being of the party. Today the party has lost a devoted and ideal worker. He is a role model for the coming generation in the party.

Shri B.S. Shekhawat: Mathurji was a rare person in politics who had worked for the party wholeheartedly. I pray to god may his soul rest in peace.

Shri Suresh Soni: Mathurji lived a dedicated life for the cause of patriotism. His dedicated life should inspire us forever. He was a staunch ideologist and had great affection for the karyakartas. His good behaviour and ideological commitment made him successful in developing any organisation or institution, which would inspire the coming generation.

Shri Rajnath Singh: Jagdish Prasad Mathur was actively associated with the organisational work since the inception of the BJS and BJP. He was an able organiser and a margdarshak. As a Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha he left an indelible mark. As one of the senior most karyakartas in the organisation he dedicated his entire life in spreading the ideology and philosophy of the BJS and then the BJP. Even in adverse situations he always successfully discharged his duties with a smile. He bravely fought with the deadly disease of cancer. His sad demise is an irreparable loss not only for the party but also for the country. I offer my heartfelt tributes to him.

Acharya Giriraj Kishore: From the beginning Mathurji worked actively both in the Jana Sangh and in the BJP. Once upon a time he was the soul of Jana Sangh. I am short of words to describe the dedication of Mathurji for the cause of ideology. I pay my tribute on behalf of the VHP and myself to the departed soul.

Shri Arun Jaitley: Jagdish Prasad Mathur was the senior most amongst the living BJP leaders. He was a man of deep ideological commitment, affectionate in his behaviour, and virtually contributed the entire life to the party. His ideological commitment is a role model for generations.

Shri Sharad Yadav: Jagdish Prasad Mathur was an ideal political leader who dedicated his whole life for the party. It is in fact a loss for the whole country and not only for the BJP.

Shri Venkaiah Naidu: J.P. Mathur was one of the founder members of the party. Till his last breath he always thought about the party. He was an ideal political worker and a noble person. We always used to take advise from him on different issues. It is a big loss for the party.
