Former President of India, Abdul Kalam expounds on the ?dream-thought-action? philosophy where he motivates children to dream because without dreams, they cannot be motivated to fulfil their dreams. He says, ?Your dreams will transform into thoughts, thoughts lead to honest work. Work will result in actions and you will succeed.? He has some very valid advice to give on different subjects, some of the leading ones are as follows:

On Creativity
It is seeing the same thing as everybody else, but thinking of out-of-the-box solutions.

Creative leadership is exercising the task to change the traditional role from one who demands respect to one who facilitates self-respect.

The potential of success of visions like ?developed India? can be high only if the proportion of creative leaders in a nation is higher.

On Stress
It is not a disgrace to reach the stars, but it is a disgrace to have no stars to reach for.

On Success
This is possible only through ?commitment to action?.
One can succeed against established beliefs through determined efforts.

On Thinking
A nation is greater than any individual or organisation.
A nation is great because of the way its people think.

On Connectivity
Connectivity is strength, wealth and progress.

On Creativity
Creativity blossoms when learning is purposeful.
Creativity blossoms to give rise to thoughts.
Creativity and imagination of the human mind is superior to any computer.
Beautiful minds are the source of creativity.
Creativity is the foundation of human thinking and the highest end of the value drain.
Every mind is creative; every mind is inquisitive.

On Books
An hour a day to book reading makes you into a knowledge centre.
Possessing a good book is an everlasting enrichment in life.

On Knowledge
Knowledge without action is useless and irrelevant.
Thinking provides knowledge which makes us great.
Knowledge becomes wealth when innovation is adopted.
Service to the common man is central to all human knowledge and endeavour.

On Conscience
Conscience is the divine light of the soul that ?burns within the chambers of our psychological heart?.
Authors are conscience keepers of the society.

On Music
Music is a great communication where language is no barrier.
Music and dance elevates you to a different plane.

Dr Abdul Kalam, the author, talks of the student and the teacher, where the student uses the teacher as a rung of the ladder to climb the highest while the teacher is the ladder which remains where it is.

He concludes by saying that each one of us should create a page in human history. He admits humbly that his experience is a small dot in history, ?but that dot has a life and light.?
