Bo Yin Ra, the author-painter, born in Germany and who died in 1943, is considered an authority on spirituality. He says that ?the beginning? – eternal Being without end – ?begets of it own essence the Origin'seternal light? and that light in turn engenders the eternal word. The word comprehends the gift of life within the word that generates the ?Father???the Spirit'sHuman Being of the Origin??within the silent depths encompassing eternity, which is today the way it always was and shall remain forever without end.

The author talks of the Himavat on whose foothills one may not be ?any closer to the living light of final truth, whose rays illuminate the inner ?East?, the realm of sunrise in the soul?, but the lowest folly and the highest wisdom have ?their wellspring in the East?. He considers renunciation of the world and earthly life as a ?folly? because abandoning the world is the ?narcotic potion of enfeebled souls? who think that in this way they can escape their obligations to reality. By renunciation of the world, ?you merely chain yourself more closely to the will of the earth because the impulse prompting the renunciation is simply the unsatisfied desire of the earth?. To abandon the world is not action but in the majority of cases it is a regrettable result of psycho-physical disorders coupled with the ?impulse towards excessive self-indulgence.?

The author expounds his views on joy and grief saying if grief did not exist, then joy as well could not have asserted its being. He concedes that all of separations and divisions cause grief, but for one to experience joy, it is necessary for separation and division to occur because it is their working that is the ?source that nourishes all life?. Joy and grief depend upon each other and yet they are constantly at war, without their ever being able to make peace. ?The more you treasure joy, the less you value grief, until at last it shall become a willing servant of your joy.? This does not mean that none should keep away from all hardships; instead it is grief that challenges you to a battle and one day all grief shall vanish in height of truth. ?Joy alone is everlasting, for it is rooted in eternity,? concludes the author. It is the ?will to joy? that will let you partake of eternal life; will let your living God reveal himself within you; make God be one with you for all eternity and be the final wellspring of your ?will to joy?. In the ultimate analysis, experience shows that only when you yourself are the source that grants you joy that you can be ?certain to possess your being?.  (M.G.)
