“VISUALLY-challenged persons are not burden on the society and the family. They have marvellous talent. What they need is the opportunity of development. They can also contribute much in the national development if provided opportunities,? said Shri Indresh Kumar, RSS National Executive Member. He was speaking at a function organised at the Hanuman Prasad Poddar Blind School in Varanasi by Drishtihin Kalyan Sangh. He said there are examples when the visually-challenged persons have set examples for the whole society to follow. Noted Ramkatha Vachak Swami Rambhadracharya and noted singer and musician Shri Ravindra Jain are blind and do not need any introduction, he added.
Dr Anil Tewari, noted eye surgeon of the city, said there are 46 lakh people in the country whose cornea is damaged. If people donate eyes they can see the world again. Drishitihin Kalyan Sangh is running various eye banks and cornea collection centres. A similar centre is to be set up in Varanasi soon. Shri Govardhanlal Jhavar, Mahanagar president of Kalyan Sangh, Shri Shailendra Pathak, co-convener of the Prant and Shri Sunder Tulsthan, Mahanagar secretary also spoke on the occasion. (By Loknath)
