Hindus are 83 per cent of the total population of the country, yet we have no decisive role in deliberating upon and framing the vision of our nation. We are shy of asserting our Hindu identity. Just on the drop of a hat, we go out of the way in word and action to prove our commitment to secularism and the one that is acceptable to the Leftists.

Leftists vetoed the names of Shivraj Patil and Dr. Karan Singh as candidates for the post of the President of India, the first being a devotee of Satya Sai Baba and the other had organised a virat Hindu sammelan. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was by far the best candidate for the post of the President of India. He was miles ahead in stature and the political career. But still just not to displease their Muslim constituency, NDA partners deserted him. UNPA did not want to support Congress candidate but abstained from election just to appease Muslim vote bank. It appears Hindu word by itself has become a stigma. In an overwhelming Hindu majority country, one has to avoid supporting any such cause having even a wee bit of a Hindu vision, even a farthest connection to Hindutva if one has to aspire for a well-deserved status in the body polity of the country. Muslims who are just 13 per cent of the total population of the country are dictating terms. UNPA, the JD(S) or even the Trinamool Congress abstained and did not want to be seen with the BJP anywhere just to remain on the right side of the Muslim community. Hindus are taken for granted. They are the vast majority but have no clout because they are totally divided.

Problem with Hindus is that the upper castes are not changing their mindset and at the same time OBCs and Dalits are determined to grab power by any means come what may. It will give a fatal blow to Hindutva and the demise of the Hind nation may come sooner than visualised. Fragmentation of the Hindu samaj is a great danger to the integrity of the nation. Threat from across the border and the subversion from within, will attain dangerous proportion in the time to come just because Hindu samaj cannot enforce its will sheer because of the divisions within it. There is an imperative need for the rejuvenation of Hindutva spawning all segments of the Hindu society. Massive awakening is called for, starting at the grassroot level.

There is no denying the fact that all the terrorist attacks whether in J&K or other parts of India are by the Muslim terrorists. I agree one should not attempt community profiling. But all the Muslim terrorists, maybe the fringe elements, take shelter in the Muslim ghettoes where they can easily hide their original identity, plan and execute their nefarious designs behind the multitudinous community layers. UPA government has been rather keen that the investigating agencies go soft in the process of conducting enquiries, collection of intelligence, raids and capturing the suspects. It is a deliberate appeasement of Muslim community and vote bank politics at the cost of the integrity of the nation.

May I also quote Shekhar Gupta Chief Editor of The Indian Express that ?It is a cruel question to ask a government which has a record of complete, total ?spotless? failure in cracking any of the major terrorist attacks that have taken place on its watch in three full years. Not in one single case?most significant of which of course is the Mumbai train bombings?has this government been able to catch any suspects and charge them.? He further says: ?Has it served itself and India well by communalising the very approach to fight against terrorism? Ask the police forces in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Hyderabad and counter-terror veterans in the intelligence agencies and even the army and the answer will stare you in the face. After the attacks they faced in first flush of the Mumbai rail attacks for targeting Muslims and the hurry in which they were forced to call off the searches and interrogation have put the fear of god in the minds of security.?

Shishir Gupta of The Indian Express has hit the nail on the head when he says: ?A matter of record is that an influential section within the internal security establishment had a diametrically opposite view of the Mumbai blasts perpetrators but these voices were silenced once National Security Advisor M.K. Narayanan singled out the L-e-T in the cabinet two days after the incident.?
