Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) national general secretary Shri Udairao Patwardhan has called upon the retail traders, small shopkeepers, farmers and agriculture labourers to get united against the entry of big business icons in retail trade and growing contract labour system in factories. He said a massive countrywide movement would soon be launched against the malpractices. Shri Patwardhan was speaking at the triennial convention of Bharatiya Jute Mazdoor Sangh at Hajinagar under 24 Paragana district of West Bengal on June 17. He said BMS would oppose the contract system in all the offices and factories as well as the government institutions tooth and nail. A total of 350 delegates from all over the country participated in the convention that concluded on June 17.
Earlier speaking at the convention, Shri Baijnath Rai, national secretary of BMS, said the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh had himself assured the trade union leaders on August 19 last year to amend the Bonus Act. He said the government should do it as earliest and provide bonus to the all the workers. He warned of a countrywide agitation if the government fails to keep its words. Shri Shiv Prasad Singh was elected president of the Bharatiya Jute Mazdoor Sangh for the 2007 to 2010. Other office bearers includes Shri Bhagwan Thakur, working president, Shri Sanjay Kumar Rai, vice president, Shri Tarun Kant Ghosh, general secretary and Shri Umesh Chaudhary as treasurer. (FOC)
