The first national level Vanvasi students workshop of ABVP was held on December 29 and 30, 2006. A total of 205 workers from 17 states participated in the workshop. Dr Ram Naresh Singh and Shri Suresh Bhatt addressed the delegates. Shri P. Suryanarayan, All India Vanvasi Students Pramukh of ABVP, explained the need to organise ABVP among Vanvasi students. He stressed the need to understand the educational, social, economic and cultural challenges of Vanvasi students. He said some anti-national elements in connivance with the foreign forces have been trying to create trouble in Vanvasi areas. ?Therefore, Vanvasi students should be made more patriotic and active. They should be involved in the process of national reconstruction. Towards this goal the ABVP has been imparting training for expansion of the work. We can say that the ABVP has been successful in this task. Delegates from all states of the country attended the workshop. Shri Sunil Ambekar, national organising secretary of ABVP said continuous efforts were being made by many forces even from pre independence days to alienate the Vanvasis from national mainstream but the nationalists have been opposing their attempts. He said ABVP has been trying to curtail these anti-national elements by instilling self-confidence among Vanvasis.
