Expressing serious concern over the illegal infiltration of Christians in the holy Tirumala mountains, the Kendriya Margdarshak Mandal of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, the high power decision making body of saints and VHP leaders, has appealed to the Andhra Pradesh government not to allow the religious activities of non-Hindus within the 250 sq. km. area of the holy mountains. The saints demanded the government to officially declare that nobody has the right to change the ownership of the seven temples of Tirumala mountains, which come under the ownership of Tirupati Balaji. Demanding immediate ban over the construction of ropeway in the mountains, the saints also demanded white paper over the misuse of money from the funds of Tirupati Devasthanam.
The meeting was held in Delhi from September 16 to 17. It followed the meeting of Shri Ramjanmabhoomi Mandir Uchchadhikar Samiti on September 15. Prominent saints who attended the meeting includes Swami Vasudevananda Saraswati, Jagadguru Madhvacharya, Swami Vishvesh-teertha, Swami Narendracharya, Swami Parmanand, Swami Krishnacharya, Swami Hansdas, Dr Rameshwar Das, Acharya Dharm-endra and Dr Ramvilas Das Vedanti.
The meeting said the saints and the Hindu society are very much agitated over the conspiracies being hatched with the help of some officials of Tirupati Devasthanam in the temple area. Citing the report of the investigation committee, constituted by Pejawar Swami Shri Vishweshteertha Maharaj, the saints said Christianity is being openly propagated in the temples and several people working in the temple board have been converted to Christianity. They said the contract of constructing the rope-way in the temple has been given to a Christian. They alleged that the government misuses over Rs 500 crore annually from the temple funds. Not only this, the government has reduced the 250 sq. km. area, into just 27.5 sq. km. The saints alleged that the state government is trying to eliminate the Hindu character of the region under the pressure of Christians.
In a resolution, the Karyakari Mandal stressed the need to launch an extensive awareness campaign in 6 lakh villages through the sant yatras. ?The problems of cultural invasion, religious conversion and demographic imbalance cannot be resolved till the slogans of Jai Sri Ram and Vande Mataram are not shoulted all over the country,? the resolution said.
The saints also criticised the distortion of Indian history by the UPA government. The resolution said the secular politicians and the government do not think even once that what would be the effect of this distortion on the new generation of the country. The meeting criticised recent tampering with the dress of Shri Krishna in Vrindavan and demanded the government to punish the guilty people.
About the Ram temple movement, the saints warned that temple will be constructed in Ayodhya only through the Ramjanmabhoomi Trust and no Babri mosque will be accepted anywhere in the country. They described the so-called dialogue by some politicians with Muslim leaders as ?illogical? and said it is creating misconception in the society. ?There are suggestions that a mosque is constructed in Ayodhya. The Margdarshak Mandal wants to make it clear that no mosque in Ayodhya and Babri mosque anywhere in the country will be accepted,? the resolution said.
