While Nazma Biwi (32) a talaq affected lady of Bhadrak district of Orissa is still running from pillar to post for her right to live, even after the land mark judgment of the apex court. In the meantime a Maulavi has been suspended and kicked out of his service, for allegedly disclosing some facts regarding a disputed talaq also and Islamic harassment connecting with that.
Kissan Nagar is a remote area under Kendrapara district. On December 30, 2005 a family dispute occurred there between two families of Amman Ulla Khan and S.K. Salaudin. Amman'swife Bicky Biwi did not support her husband and took the side of her brother Salaudin. Being aggrieved with this, Amman Khan gave talaq to Bicky and for this Salaudin also allegedly assaulted him.
Though the incident occurred due to a family dispute and the talaq was given due to sudden provocation. The locals tried to patch it up but the local shariat leaders did not agree with it and ultimately Bicky Biwi lodged a FIR against her husband and in response Amman lodged another FIR against his brother-in-law, Salaudin who assaulted him for giving talaq. Local police initiated criminal actions against them basing on their complaints. As the Shariat law terminated their marriage, the police required evidence to settle the matter.
It took an ugly turn when Bicky Biwi took Sanwala Kadri, a Maulavi of her locality to give evidence regarding their marriage and talaq before the police who gave evidence and some information to the media pertaining to the incident. The matter became public. Being enraged with this the local Shariat leaders removed him from service.
On the other hand the sacked Maulavi, Sonwalla Kadri expressed his grief on the issue. Talking to Organiser he said, ?They ordered me not to disclose the talaq details to any one else. But I could not see the suffering of the talaq affected lady. I gave evidence before the police and the media. For which I am kicked out from my lawful right?. He said now he has realise the truth of Islam and instead of apologising, planning to be converted to Hinduism.
