National Executive meeting of Akhil Bharatiya Grahak Panchayat was held in Ludhiana from March 11 to 12. A total of 135 delegates from 19 states participated in the meeting. Before the National Executive meeting, the election of new Grahak Panchayat president was held in which Shri Rajabhau Phophali was elected as the new president. Sarkaryavah Shri Mohan Bhagwat, Margdarshak of the Panchayat Shri Shrikant Joshi, Dr Bajrang Lal Gupta, Shri Bindu Madhav Joshi and Dr Charanjit Singh Kalara were also present at the meeting. Addressing the delegates, Shri Mohan Bhagwat said the Grahak Panchayat is an autonomous and self-reliant organisation and it should function on its own strength. He said the consumers should be the deciding force in the organisation as it is fully working for the protection of consumer rights. He said the Sangh workers who are working in the Panchayat should always have the nation and public friendly attitude. ?Without having any lust for post and government benefits the workers should work for strengthening the organisation,? he added.

Shri Rajabhau Phophali said the Grahak Panchayat has to work for the economic change and also against the global invasion. Emphasising the need for increasing the number of workers, he said increase in counselling centres could provide more workers. ?At the time of increasing the number of workers we should ensure that the new worker has the real feeling of dedication and commitment to work for benefit of consumer interests,? he added. According to Shri Bhaiya Saheb Channe, the Grahak Panchayat has work in 106 districts of 19 Prants. During the birth-centenary year of Shri Guruji the work would be extended to 123 more districts with 136 new counselling centres. In Maharashtra the work would be extended to all tehsils of the state.

The new president also declared his new team at the meeting: Shri Somnath Kherkar, general secretary, Dr Charanjit Singh Kalara, vice president, Shri Prabhunath Jaiswal, national secretary and Shri Bhaiya Saheb Channe, office secretary. Shri Deepak Gaur, Shri Narangji, Shri Ravindra Kanchan, Shri Deepak Chaurasia, Shri Krishanmoorti, Shri Dilip Mudake, Smt. Shehini Hashashnis, Shri Arun Deshpande, Dr Shriniwas Gautam, Shri Babura, Shri Ghanshyam Mahapatra, Smt. Swatitai Shahane, Shri Kapildev Sharma and Shri Bala Saheb Kulkarni are the members of National Executive.
