Jaigopalji was among the Sangh Swayamsevaks who received inspiration for Sangh work from Dr Hedgewar. Born at Dera Ismial Khan of undivided India, Jaigopalji became a Sangh Pracharak in 1942 after getting an engineering degree. His family had migrated to Bareilly in 1947. He did first year Sangh Shiksha Varg from Lahore in 1936. Starting as Nagar Pracharak, he spread the Sangh work as Zilla Pracharak and Vibhag Pracharak in various cities of Uttar Pradesh. He became Prant Pracharak of Poorvi Uttar Pradesh in 1973 and also worked underground during the Emergency. Jaigopalji became Uttar Kshetra Pracharak in 1989.

Dr Pravin Togadia, VHP General Secretary, said that a diamond of the chain of dedicated workers who are working for re-establishing the pristine glory of Hindu Rashtra, departed. Shri Indresh Kumar, Akhil Bharatiya Sah-Sampark Pramukh, said Jagopalji was an inspiration for all the Sangh workers. Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee, former Prime Minister said that a soldier who fought throughout his life, has gone to sleep forever. Shri L.K. Advani, BJP president, said that a dedicated worker has departed. Shri Dinesh Chandra, Kshetra Pracharak said that a tejasvi Pracharak has left. Tributes by Sarsanghachalak

In his condolence message, sent from Houston, US, RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri K.S. Sudarshan said: ?Jai Gopalji also left us and departed for his heavenly abode just two days after Shri Narayanrao Tarte had left. A resident of Dera Ismail Khan in North-West Frontier Province, he spreaded the Sangh work as a Pracharak. He became the Prant Pracharak of western Uttar Pradesh and was instrumental in spreading the Sangh work in every nook and corner of the area. Lately, he was Kshetra Pracharak of the Uttar Kshetra and traveled extensively in this area mainly Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana and Delhi. An indefatigable worker he also guided the activities of Vidya Bharati and was ill at ease when due to his indisposition he had to remain confined to a particular place to take rest. He believed in the spirit of one of the Sangh geets, which says, ?let the whole life be dedicated to the work of Sangh and let death alone put a stop to it.? Our respectful homage to the departed soul.?
