Uttaranchal remembers Dr Mookerjee

THE Uttaranchal unit of BJP observed the martyrdom day of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee on June 23. Speaking at the function held at Barotiwala in Dehradun, Dr Mohan Singh ?Gaonwasi?, national convener of BJP'sPanchayat cell and a former minister in Uttaranchal government, stressed on the need to follow the principles and ideals of Dr Mookerjee. Recalling the patriotism and sacrifice of Dr Mookerjee, he said that the country would never forget the service rendered by him to Bharat Mata. ?He died while doing yeoman'sservice to the nation. He sacrificed himself for the sake of unity and integrity of the motherland. He was the pride of the whole nation,? said Dr Gaonwasi.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Romy Bajaj, general secretary of BJP, said that Dr Mookerjee had met Dr Hedgewar in 1940 and felt that there should be a political party to protect the rights of the Hindus and thus the Jan Sangh was founded in 1952.

Presiding over the function, Shri Sahadev Pundir said that Dr Mookerjee was a true leader of the Hindus. Shri Arun Mittal, convenor of the function, too spoke on the occasion. Shri Chandan Lal Aggarwal, former chairman of Vikas Nagar municipality, was also present.
