Tributes by Shri K.S. Sudarshan

In his tribute to Sunder Singh Bhandari, RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri K.S. Suda-rshan said, ?On the morning of June 22, Shri Sunder Singh Bhandari left for his heavenly abode. A life dedicated to the nation came to an abrupt end. He began his national life as a young Pracharak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Rajasthan. When Dr Syama Prasad Mookherjee resigned from the post of Union Minister and requested Shri Guruji to provide some volunteers for founding a political front based on Hindu culture, then, along with Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, Atal Behari Vajpayee and Lal Krishna Advani, Sunder Singh Bhandari constituted part of the first group, which worked as the foundation stone for the Jan Sangh.

After the assassination of Pandit Deendayal Uypadhyaya, Bhandariji took over the reins as the group leader and became an illustrious example of his predecessor'sphilosophy of unity of mankind. Subsequently for several years working as the general secretary, his focus remained centred on the Jan Sangh. For a long period, he played a pivotal role in expanding the Jan Sangh and the Bharatiya Janata Party, where he played an impartial and fearless role during his tenure as Governor of Bihar and Gujarat. Whenever an occasion for discussions arose in the Bharatiya Janata Party, his views based on his experiences and his advice held special importance. Today too there was need for his invaluable assistance but God had willed otherwise and he left us. May God give the departed soul the highest place in his kingdom and our fervent appeal is that the innumerable Karyakartas, his well-wishers, friends and admirers encouraged by his exemplary life would derive the strength to bear the irreparable loss of his departure with fortitude.?
