Vidya Bharati school student tops Uttaranchal intermediate exams

It should serve as an eye-opener to those who believe that education only in an English-medium school makes a child competent. Mayank Bijalwan of Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Vikas Nagar (Uttaranchal), has topped this year'ssenior secondary examinations in the state. Mayank secured 90 per cent marks. A total of 96,644 students appeared for the exams and 65,717 of them were declared successful. Mayank secured 450 marks out of the total 500. A remarkable phenomenon is that when most students go in for tuitions, Mayank did not opt for it. He said, ?Self-help is the best help.? The results have proved that Vidya Bharati schools are superior to government schools. Even the Congress government of the state has admitted it. That is why several Congress MLAs and ministers have donated money from the MLA'sfund to these schools. Mayank'sfather has no regrets at not admitting his son in an English-medium school. ?Good education does not mean only knowledge of good English. Education should be based on culture and civilisation of a country. Schools run by Vidya Bharati serve the same purpose,? he said. Shri Naresh Chauhan, principal of the school, said that students of Saraswati Vidya Mandir had been securing high ranks for many years.
Shri Narendra Singh Bhandari, Education Minister, and several other Congress ministers have praised Vidya Bharati and congratulated the school staff. Shri Suresh Pandey, Pradesh Nirikshak, Bharatiya Shiksha Samiti pointed out that out of the 21 toppers in the senior secondary exams, ?12 students are from various Saraswati Vidya Mandir schools?. He said that despite inadequate resources, schools run by Vidya Bharati had been imparting the best education. Vidya Bharati is running 45 secondary and senior secondary schools, 117 junior high schools and 700 primary schools in the state.
