Gujarati service of Hindusthan Samachar, the popular multi-lingual news agency, began in Ahmedabad on April 14. With inauguration of this service the Hindusthan Samachar has begun the first news agency of the country providing news in Gujarati language. Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included Shri Ramanbhai Shah, trustee of Sadhna weekly, noted writer and medico Dr Sharad Thakkar, Shri Bhikuji Idate, founder of Samajik Samarasta Manch, Dr Amrapali Merchant, Vice Chancellor of Dr Ambedkar Open University and industrialist Shri Divan Singh.
